This is a weird thread.  Weird in that it is centered around beer. I hate beer. I had enough teenage run-ins with beer that I can't even stomach the stuff any more.

I have been drinking, and enjoying, a chardonnay from Chateau Ste Michelle in Washington state, USA.  I also love a good gin martini, usually with Tanqueray.

Beer?  Ick.  I don't get it.

With the explosion of the craft beer scene, great and unique beer is now easy to find. The two I listed above are great examples of that. Viking Metal is a smoked ale aged in gin barrels and Atrial Rubicite is a sour beer fermented in oak with raspberries.

Also, there are some great wineries in Washington that are a lot better than Chateau Ste. Michelle, if you're interested (recently went on a mini wine tour in Woodinville and Chateau Ste. Michelle was easily the worst of what we tasted). Brian Carter Cellars, Januik, Novelty Hill, and Matthews just to name a few. Also, the Walla Walla wineries are excellent.

Well, one's taste in wine is such an individual thing.  I remember taking a wine course many years ago, and the gist of the course was to taste a lot of different wines to find out what you like.

I love chardonnays that are buttery.  Chateau Ste. Michelle's chardonnay fits that bill perfectly.  Hence, I would naturally love it.

Of course. I was just offering some suggestions of some other wineries in the area that would be worth trying, assuming you're from the area. Which I guess is a bad assumption since Chateau Ste. Michelle is available nationally.

I picked up a bottle of Firestone Walker's 16 anniversary offering a few weeks ago. David Walker was in town to celebrate the brewery's move into the Houston - San Antonio market and signed the bottle. He said that it was one of only 24 bottles that were imported into Texas. Their anniversary beers are blended to be enhanced by aging, so I think I'll save it for a very special occasion.

I'm in San Antonio. I heard about the bottle sale, but I'll have to ask a friend to pick up a few since I'll probably be out of town that weekend. I'm a frequent visitor to their brewpub.

Not trying to start anything at all here, ----  but are you allowed to bring a gun into a drinking establish in Texas.

I have some of the below in my fridge, which I look forward to:  Revolution Brewing (Chicago).

It depends. Establishments that derive more than half of their income from the sales of alcoholic beverages are required to display 51% signs that warn that it's illegal to carry inside. People with concealed handgun licenses are allowed to carry in other restaurants/bars as long as the owners haven't hung properly worded/displayed 30.06 signs that forbid CHL holders from carrying. You'll see a lot of signs that state that the unlicensed possession of a handgun is a felony, but that doesn't prevent CHL holders from carrying on the premises. My friend and I were actually kicked out of a bar last year after advising the bartender that the sign was pointless and wouldn't prevent CHL holders from carrying; she got mad and asked the bouncer to escort us outside (I wasn't carrying.) The burly bouncer apologized and agreed that I was correct about the sign.

Texas law doesn't state a particular blood alcohol level for CHL holders, so the smart thing is to leave your pistol behind if you plan to be drinking.

Thanks, Hixter - good to know.

My pleasure. Texas law is very clear about the signage requirements, specifying the location, wording and even font size that must be used. I'd say that at least half of the signs I've seen posted at businesses were improperly located and/or didn't display a properly worded warning, thus rendering them useless in the eyes of the law.
