Maybe some songs in the studio? No idea if R2 have been playing them much lately. JT on Guy Garvey's show on R6 would be something I'd like to hear.

The benefit of a day with nothing else to do in London I guess. Lads, what about all the museums? And its a lovely sunny autumn day. Bit of footie in Hyde Park?

Wilco on with Mark King from Level 42...

Hope the Beeb don't think they've gone THAT bland

Mind you it's Wilco's biggest problem IMO. Too many people to please because they're so diverse and end up alienating a fair number with every release.

Anyone expecting a folk strum or some golden pop moments who walked into the Roundhouse last nuight must have bee wondering what the hell was going on. Could have been Sonic Youth or the Jesus and Mary Chain up there for half an hour.

Funny station Radio 2 - dreadful during the day by and large but occasionally very good in the evenings. Usurped pretty much these days though by (BBC) 6 Music.

Seems recorded in the real day off during the week to me. JT only going to play a song solo after a little interview (nothing special). Dawn On Me now. Born Alone to follow they say.

At least we don't have to sit through much of the show before this started, and I won't be hanging around afterwards.

The interviewer had no clue about Wilco but that made the interview pretty funny. Tweedy handled it well. Did sound like Solid Sound not a definite this coming year. Mentioned possibility of skipping a year. Might have to cancel those hotel reservations for June 22-24 before I get billed.

What was really funny was that at the end, and probably speaking live on hearing the interview back and realising it was a bit ropey, he tried to explain it as feeling giddy and light headed on meeting the great Jeff Tweedy. The reality was he only had the vaguest idea of anything Wilco related.

The funny thing is, they have met before, Jeff came into the studio on the Sky Blue Sky tour (I know, I recorded the version of John Wesley Harding he played).

I have completely missed this, but have just had Dermot on in the car on the way back from the in-laws. Don't enjoy listening to him particularly as he's utterly bland to my ears, seems to like nothing more taxing than landfill 'indie' musically (even better if it's a cover version - he played 'Chim Chim Cheroo' by Turin Brakes on the journey home and I, correctly, predicted he'd love that). I really struggle to see what Dermot's appeal is at all.

Sure I've heard him say before that his producer got him into Wilco, so presumably that's where the interest actually lies.

Dermot O'Leary is kind of embarrassing really. The interview was painful... "why don't you call it the Tweedy fest...? "go on call it the Tweedy fest..."... "It's obviously a better name.. the Tweedy fest"... stfu! "did you have Hold Steady on?" why? why the Hold Steady? is it because you like them?

painful... sounded like Jeff was doing a good job of being polite

and does he know the difference between Wilco and Jeff Tweedy? He announced Jeff's performances as being by Wilco...

which one's Pink? :lol

Yes lovely man. I once had a short email exchange with him regarding a song (bit of an obscure b side that they used to do live a few years back) that I wrongly thought might have been inspired by the name of the American manager Thatcher brought in to try and finish off the miners during the strike of 84-85. Difficult times for Guy's family as they had family members in the striking miners and in the police force (there were some nasty confrontations at the time). In the email he said that our conversation reminded him of the case against the man who knocked the head off a recently unveiled statue of Thatcher (that was some years ago) in a gallery. This man's defence was simply "Well, someone had to do it". Let's just say there'll be a few parties in South Wales where I come from when she pegs it.

I'll follow that up - thanks. I do have a solo album of his from about 4 years ago thats got some pretty good stuff and am vaguely aware of Hefner - via John Peel I think.

As a member of a music forum I' m not too hardcore when it comes to collecting etc. Not so much time for that sort of thing ... I just kind of bump into music I like ... :-)
