LouieB
This may have been mentioned somewhere before, but since the actual record just came out in the last few weeks I figure it deserves some additional mention. JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound have released a record which contans their smokin hot cover of "I am trying to break your heart" on it. They do a great live version too. So if they come to your town see them and if you want one of the better Wilco covers up to this point, check out their album released on Bloodshot Records which is called "Want More". The rest of the album is pretty good too, if you like retro soul type material. LouieB

Wendy
Nice things for you to remember about this talented artist and his band. I have seen them perform live, and they bring the house down.

LouieB
Agreed Wendy. Great show and great band. These guys fit right in with LouieB's rule of contemporary music: never before have musicians played better. These guys are smokin hot musicians and singer. Great stuff, even while being derivative. Check out their album, its really great. (Do they have part time back-up singers and horn section on the road or was that just a hometown thing?) LouieB
JAK2112
Met JC at Solid Sound this year, class act, nice guy, and great performer. One of the highlights from this year's festival, will totally be checking the album out.
choo-choo-charlie
This was the video with the black guy with the man boobs, right/ I too recall the man boobs. I'm still on the fence about their IATTBYH cover, but I do love me some good soul bands.

Hey...it is what it is.Sometimes you folks from Chicago forget that not all of us are denizens of the Windy City and are not familiar with all the nuances of the fair city. Ampleness of JC Brooks bosoms aside (did I just write that sentence, I guess just wrote that sentence). The dude has some fans. If Little Steven was solely referred to as "that short dude with head scarf." You would be justified in saying, "hey, he's a little more than just that." b.) It will give your point about the board's Chicago centricity more creedence if and when you use it in the future the person, whose post you are responding to, is actually from there. Wendy lives in Indiana. c.) Since I mentioned Little Steven, Springsteen did a guest spot on his radio show over the summer that is well worth checking out if you like the music of the sixties and or the E Street Band, it is easily found via the google machine. --Mike

I think Steven has a tad bit more stature that J C Brooks. But I wouldn't mind the jibe about the scarf. He wears the thing to stand out. . As Lou was the OP and he is from Chicago...yadda yadda yadda.c). Little Steven's channel on SiriusXM is in the rotation. I have given up on terrestial radio I like how 'b ).' gets macroed into . The world would be a better place if things were replaced by emoticons.
mpolak21
Sorry, I thought the Chicago point was directed at Wendy. My mistake. I have throughly enjoyed every episode of The Underground Garage I've heard. Little Steven just came to mind. Sun City was stuck in my head today. Don't know much about JC Brooks other than the video, if they ever around my area I will perhaps seek out their live show. --Mike
kidsmoke
I'll join in the JC Brooks appreciation from Solid Sound. It was a solid set. Smooth and syncopated stuff. (See how I got all alliterative there? Probably the influence of the Thomas Jefferson bio I just finished.)

It adds to the allure of those artists, that's for sure. As for JC Brooks, he's a Chicago phenomenon. Kind of like the Reverend Horton Heat in Dallas.
