bböp
Haven't directly posted a setlist here in a while, but this seems like a good one to make an exception... A fun set, much longer than their last ACL performance (and, it must be said, longer than last night's actual show in Dallas). The set closed with a surprise Cruel To Be Kind with Nick Lowe that wasn't on the setlist. I pretty much lost my shit at that point, so pardon me if any of that footage ends up making the cut. Also noteworthy was the return of Nels playing Duane Allman's gorgeous goldtop Les Paul. He used it on four songs, by my count: Shouldn't Be Ashamed, Whole Love, Impossible Germany and Cruel To Be Kind. Maybe one other. It was my first time seeing him play it in person and you can tell it means so much to him to be playing the instrument once played by one of his idols. Jeff commented on it, and I can't remember his whole over-the-top metaphor right now, but he likened it to using the hammer that was used to build Noah's Ark. Or something like that. Oh, and apparently the show (which was the finale of ACL's 37th season) is set to air Feb. 4. Wilco played just under two hours in all, but at least they are getting the whole hour of the show again so a decent chunk of the set should hopefully make the cut. Sweet Papa Crimbo
I am going to blow a stinking gasket. I have a feeling that I am going to be very bitter for a long time. I self edited before I posted this. Let's just say I'm rethinking a lot of things.
Nathan J
I was at this show as well. Simply amazing - 3rd time to see Wilco and this was by far the best. It's been about 5 years or so and I feel like Jeff has really grown a lot as a live performer.

You said you and your son had a great time at the Dallas show. Get on with it.

chrisfgee
What do you think that this portends for tonight's Austin show?
Nathan J
I know this will never happen, but....after seeing the show last night I think it'd be cool if they did a tour of all songs pre-YHF. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff from the 2000's, but I never got the chance to see the 90's stuff live and I really love that part of their history. There is some really really great stuff on those albums. As it is, we only got to see 2 songs from that era last night. That being said, last night's concert was a top 2 concert of all-time for me. It was that good. Thank you, Wilco.

jakobnicholas
I think Crow Daddy has every right and reason to feel as he does. Sounds like Dallas got the shaft for whatever reason. Nathan J., I personally would love to see a pre-YHF only show, but am OK that they're heavy on newer material....they need to play what excites them. But Being There and Summerteeth are getting absolutely abused so far on this leg. By my count, after 2 shows: A.M. - 1 song per showBeing There - 1 song per showSummerteeth - 1 song in Dallas only

Luckily, this record is a really good one, so 8 or so songs from it being performed every night is a real treat. Thanks Crow. I didn't say I was going to comply... Magnetized
That's amazing. I can't wait to see the airing of this. I wonder how Nels is getting to play this guitar so far from its home in Macon, GA.I don't know about the other shows, but at the Ryman the guitar was hand-delivered by a guy and his fiance from the Allman Brothers museum. You can hear Jeff talk about it on the taping of the second night's show, just before Impossible Germany.
