ELS
Fantastic show. Pretty heavy on Wilco stuff, but a lot of great surprises in there.
Queen Amaranthine
I'm surprised there weren't more TWL songs. Maybe tonight? Black Moon or Rising Red Lung would be beautiful solo. Have fun, everyone who is there tonight!
paulcalypse
Looks like a good set list! Looking forward to tonight's show. See you folks there
thagle
I'm amazed that i've been to these the last 5 years and have yet to see a sunken treasure. Do people just assume somebody else will pick it or is the song not nearly as popular as i think it should be? Sue: thanks for the last minute request for laminated cat. Was supposed to be for Melissa (my wife's) soon to be born child but it went just to melissa instead.... we were happy nonetheless
smells like flowers
Lots of references to great banter, but can anyone give us a few examples? I'd love just a teeny window into the vibe of the show. Also, what's The Community Song? Looked on youtube and basic google search but could not find a listenable version. ELS
Lots of references to great banter, but can anyone give us a few examples? I'd love just a teeny window into the vibe of the show. Also, what's The Community Song? Looked on youtube and basic google search but could not find a listenable version. Someone asked how he got Sue to marry him. His answer? "I got her pregnant..." He did some rambling about going to the Grammys and Whitney Houston's dooty bubbles... You know... Typical Tweedy stuff. I'm amazed that i've been to these the last 5 years and have yet to see a sunken treasure. Do people just assume somebody else will pick it or is the song not nearly as popular as i think it should be? I've seen Wilco/Jeff somewhere between 15-20 times and still haven't heard "She's A Jar" live.
thagle
Didnt he do she's a jar last year? I feel like i've heard it a few times between the Letters for santa shows and the benefits. The community song is nothing really, just a montessori theme song: dont quote me on it but here ya goLook around and you will seeFamily, communitywe are brothers, sisters, all thats the song
H.Stone
Pretty heavy on Wilco stuff Imagine that... It was a great show. A couple of the highlights for me were At My Window..., Thirteen, ELT, and Dreamer. As for banter, there is always a lot of talk about how the show won't be the best it could be because the first 30 people pick the setlist and they're not usually songs he likes/would pick himself, but he'll do his best, etc. I think Friday was the night he told the story of Ween opening for Uncle Tupelo and Dean Ween smashing his acoustic guitar during sound check--and then having to borrow Jeff's. I actually thought there was a surprising amount of recent (TWL) stuff for one of these shows. It was great!
choo-choo-charlie
Pretty heavy on Wilco stuff In other news, an alarming amount of Drive-By Truckers material was played at a recent Patterson Hood solo show...
thagle
Could only go one night, glad I picked Friday!!!!! I would have loved the ALTWYS and would always prefer Acuff Rose to Dreamer in My dreams as the w/o PA closer, but I LOVED this setlist (3/30).9 or 10 Tweedy firsts for me. nalafej
Had a great time at the show Friday. What a treat to be able to go to one of the best venue’s in Chicago year after year to support Jeff’s cause and get a chance to hear anything in his catalog. This year, Friday was it for me (couldn’t justify going to both given my potential 2012 Wilco calendar). The highlights for me were hearing two the new songs solo acoustic for the first time: Art of Almost & Sunloathe. It is so cool how some of the more complicated songs get boiled down on an acoustic and Art of Almost fit that category. Sunloathe will be a real treat for audience when the band decides to play it for the first time to an audience. In addition to those songs, I loved Thirteen, Wait Up and ELT. Great job die hards who put in the requests. It was a good mix of deep cuts, classics and hits. I’d listen to this Pandora station any day.
Muzzle of Dan
I was listening to this last night. I couldn't believe my ears when the lyrics kicked in for Art Of Almost. Very cool version of that song.
choo-choo-charlie
I was listening to this last night. I couldn't believe my ears when the lyrics kicked in for Art Of Almost. Very cool version of that song. And just where did you hear it?
Guest Jules
He probably downloaded the recording of the show.

lamradio
I can't imagine how Jeff could pull that one off acoustic. But he's Jeff, so I'm sure he pulled it off beautifully. I'll have to check that out.
