Guest Jules
Knowing my wonderful employers (who made a point of letting people here know they were voting for Romney), I strongly suspect that any rate increase we got was passed along entirely to the employees. Meanwhile, they got a new Jaguar, just bought their 22-year-old kid a house, complete with granite countertops in the kitchen, etc. etc. One has nothing to do with the other, Mr. H.Your terrible employer also gives you a job every year. Atticus
I am in Texas, my employer contribution stayed the same. My plan went up $75/month
KevinG
sorry..."provides employment opporunities" By that logic anyone who has a job should really be grateful just to be employed. Oh my employer just cut my benefits, decreased my hourly wage and but yet takes no cuts for himself. Well thank you sir I may have another. Shouldn't the employer be grateful to the worker, who without he couldn't buy his Jags and counter tops? Not saying that all of his profits should go back to the workers, but isn't it frustrating when you see your take home page decreasing but yet the top management not sharing in that sacrifice? Take a look at this article. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-leadership/post/crazy-data-point-of-the-day-how-much-ceo-vs-worker-pay-has-grown/2012/05/11/gIQArUISIU_blog.html Workers annual compensation has gone up about 5.6% from 1978 to 2011; whereas CEO compensation has gone up about 726%. Really striking isn't it?

Mr. Heartbreak
Sometimes people try to engage me on here without remembering (or perhaps without even understanding) that I don't read their posts. It's quite extraordinary. My boss is similarly obtuse. Kind of like the pointy-headed guy in Dilbert.Whatever the comments were, yours are much appreciated, KevinG. Mr. Heartbreak
something seems off here.Nothing off there. I am just observant enough to read the part of my screen that says "This post is hidden because you have chosen to ignore posts by" part.See, I read your posts...so far. KevinG
I never know how to answer KevinG's posts. Are they actually questions? Rhetorical? Sorry I don't speak in your one line snark. I don't expect my posts to be rhetorical, I am generally interested in what people have to say (unless of course I get bored with the conversation and then I give up). When I ask questions it is my hope they are answered. I often do enjoy a well reasoned post, even when I disagree with the content. I like to see thought around them and an engagement of others. However, Jules your post are pretty much worthless. To me the seem designed to illicit gut reactions and are on par with comments I read on youtube. They really are nothing more then a one line snark. Maybe there is some deeper meaning, maybe you are trying to express some sort of point, but to me it is lost. So I really never know how to respond to your posts. To me you have no respect and would rather just fire off your zingers. I have always felt that the VC community is at a better level then most places on the internet. A place where ideas can come together, different points of view can be discussed. But when I read your comments (and to some extent IRDB's) it shatters that notion and reminds me we that this is the internet and any damn fool can say any damn fool thing he wants. You really frustrate me, but hey it is your prerogative to do so. Just as it is mine to be long winded and confusing.
Mr. Heartbreak
what kind of moneyed asshole would install marble in a kitchen?Probably the same kind of moneyed asshole who would respond to someone on a message board after being politely asked, "Please don't speak to me." You really frustrate me, but hey it is your prerogative to do so. Just as it is mine to be long winded and confusing. Your questions and followups are interesting to many of us, and I appreciate your viewpoint...not just because we agree, but also because you put more effort and thought into most of your posts in this thread than I do myself...as long winded as I can be. I am more likely to post more in the music threads. As for engaging that person, you must have the patience of a saint to do it. I had to use the ignore feature here, or the frustration of dealing with it would seriously make me consider leaving ViaChicago. The fact that this individual has never been banned leads me to believe that the moderators have some special reason for allowing the troll-like behavior. It may just be an excess of the same sort of patience and tolerance you seem to have too. I just can't do it, so I don't engage anymore. Unfortunately, I still see some posts due to the quote feature, but at least I don't see all of them.

Guest Jules
I live in Florida, where our asshole governor completely shunned the ACA. In spite of him and his minions, Florida has had one of the highest, if not the highest, number of people signing up for health insurance through the ACA website. I believe the number is in excess of 300,000. Although I'm not thrilled to see my own rates go up a dime, my point was not to complain: it was to note that 1) the amount mine went up was manageable, at $24/month, since I make an above average income; and 2) it's important to remember that just because someone's contribution amount went up, it doesn't mean the rate went up more than that. H. Your terrible employer also gives you a job every year. I think my point was pretty clear here. No trolling, "engaging" or whatever. Mr H's employer might be a giant asshole, but I don't see what his car or home purchases have to do with what he passes along or doesn't pass along to his employees. Since Mr. H doesn't read my posts, I should speak more generally. This really goes for any business. I've seen and heard similar thoughts elsewhere and I think it's unfortunate and demonstrates a misunderstanding of what it means to run a private business.
