calvino
With regards to the Recovery Act, the below is a nice read.
bleedorange
Calling total bullshit on this, total and complete bullshit. Every time I hear that Obama is a big government spender it makes me want to throw up. It is a lie spread by the right and ridiculous. And then parroted by people as fact as why Obama is a terrible president. But nothing but pure bullshit. It is widely proven that that government spending has slowed under Obama. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/01/24/think-obamas-a-huge-spender-then-you-need-to-see-these-two-charts/ Spending it wisely is a concern this is true, but the money needs to be spent, our infrastructure needs serious work. So the GOP filibustered PBO's infrastructure bill because:The bill was wasteful and did not spend the money on the correct infrastructure projects (where is the GOP's infrastructure bill?) The GOP doesn't see the need to spend the money on infrastructure (because you know the private sector will pick up the slack or something) The GOP will do anything in their power to stop PBO's policies, even though it may actually help the American people. A large infrastructure bill is exactly what we need now, not only would it put many Americans back to work it would fix our infrastructure. Are you just making stuff up? The GOP had in infrastructure bill at the same time that also failed. There was a big disagreement between McConnell and Reid over the two bills. Here's an article written at the time about it: Before the vote, the two Senate leaders sparred over their competing infrastructure bills. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada opened Thursday's session criticizing Republicans for holding up the legislation. It's unbelievable that Republicans have lined up in the past, and we heard they're going to do the same thing today, in unanimous opposition to this common sense plan supported by people all over America, Reid said. Reid also continued his effort to tie Republican opposition against the jobs bill to an anti-tax pledge from tax activist Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform. Nearly all Congressional Republicans and even a handful of Democrats have signed the pledge. The 0.7 percent tax surcharge on income over $1 million, Reid said, would affect two-tenths of a percent of tax payers. The top one percent of these people in America make as much as the other 99 percent put together, Reid said, taking a cue from the Occupy Wall Street protests that have sprung up around the country.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, however, criticized Obama's plan as ineffectual and touted his caucus' plan as a better alternative to kick start infrastructure projects. The Republicans' bill would extend a current highway funding bill for two years, giving states and contractors the certainty they need to start new infrastructure projects and to create jobs. Under the Republican plan, states would have the authority to spend federal funding and also blocks new regulation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on cement producers and boilers. The legislation is paid for with funds Congress already appropriated, but has yet to spend. McConnell also slammed Obama's infrastructure plan because less than a tenth of the $50 billion slated for infrastructure funding -- $4.3 billion -- will be spent in 2012. This hardly matches the President's call for doing something quote, 'right away,' McConnell said, adding that Democrats want to pay for a temporary spending bill with a permanent tax hike on job creators. The truth is, McConnell said, the Democrats are more interested in building a campaign message than in rebuilding roads and bridges.

BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA FUGGIN PUHLEASE. Just insult yourself! I was thinking about this today, the two infrastructure bills are very different. the GOP plan was just a continuation of highway funding, not nearly the infrastructure that is needed. Also the GOP plan did have some cuts and items that go against the EPA. Knowing that the Senate is controlled by the Dems it seems like the GOP put this in to say hey look at me we have a infrastructure bill knowing it would be voted down. Honestly what is needed is compromise. It is the hardest thing for the two parties to do, but it should be what they should be doing.

IRememberDBoon
Hixter do what I did in 04 When Secretary Kerry lost.I thought the world would come to an end. I cried. I was living in DC and that morning the subway was like a funeral train Except I got off at The Pentagon that day and most military folks were all smiles. The Post headlines read BUSH CHENEY REELECTEDI decided to ditch politics for a few years. Stopped reading political books and definitely stopped spewing about it on the internet. Noone wants to hear it. The man was just sworn in like 4 months ago. Give it a rest. It will help you personally because it will really not affect you personally as much as you think it will. You and yours are gonna need a lot to defeat Secretary Clinton in a few short years and you better start some OUTREACH. Have a great day brah.
Hixter
Have a great day brah.I was going to respond at length, but that pretty much says it all. Carry on cheerleading and calling the people on the other side of the aisle racists if it makes you feel better. I just finished brewing 10 gallons of beer and I'm heading out to drink a few with my Republican and Democrat friends with nary a political word uttered.

IRDB, I probably agree with most of what you say, but they way you say it is terrible. You come off like a drunk or stoned teenager most of the time and end up derailing the conversation. IRememberDBoon
Kevin youre talking about the party of Palin, Bachmann and yes McConnell too. They are all human jokes in my opinion. Not to be treated with much respect at all. Maybe if I knew them personally.I mean just think for a second about how they've attacked The President and his family. The stuff I've seen on the internet and heard from their leaders like Beck (NRA keynote speaker) and the NRA is the strongest lobbying group they have.So when they write off the psychos I'll start talking to them like I talk to my many Republican friends in DC. Believe it or not one of my very best mates and old roommates is on Fox nearly every other day and worked for President Bush and the Senate Finance Committee for almost 20 years before that. We even vacation together. I hang with him and his all the time and we always have fun. When you live in the District its always in fun. It has to be.Anyway now they want to get all serious and shit. Whatever brah.

Disagree and hate what the GOP all you want, but in my mind you don't seem to have an intelligent thought in your head. I always felt that when you argue and passionate about something you need to rise above those debating. If some calls you a liar, why call them a big fat liar. Explain why they are wrong. Case and point. This weekend Issa called Jay Carney a "paid lair" then Jay used twitter to bring up Issa's sorted past and called him Mr. Grand Theft Auto. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2013/06/03/18720608-mr-grand-theft-auto-gets-a-brush-back-pitch?lite. Which is a stupid exchange between two grown men who are supposed to be working for the people of the United State. We as a nation have lost the notion of respect. And with petty comments like this the story moves from the issue to the name calling. Just like when you post whatever the hell you post it derails the conversation. Facts will always beat the psychos. Also whereas I don't agree with Hixter, bleedorange, and other conservatives here, I respect them, enough to let them have their say and not to spew nonsensical phrases at them. If you talked to us like your GOP friends in DC, maybe your frustrations would be heard and understood, but right now you sound like a clown and far worse than anyone on the right. At least Palin, Rush, McConnell can put together an intelligible sentence.

Gibbs was great during the briefings (sure he was pompous as hell, but that was good), Carney seems lost a lot of times. Behind the scenes, Carney probably gets along with the press, more so than Gibbs, since he is a former reporter - but I think he should head back to the newsroom. The Press Secretary gig is definitely is a tough one, though.

Issa is a big jerk and his hearings are mostly baseless and going after directly after Jay Carney like that was childish. I just wish Jay would risen above it and not stooped to that level. I have heard the Left praising Carney and the right saying Carney's reaction was because Issa is getting close to the truth or some other nonsense. It is just stupid prattle.
