Tweedling
Is this an official White House press release--I mean was it on twitter?Funny! Hahaha
IRememberDBoon
Those statements are essentially irrelevant; Zimmerman was legally justified in shooting Zimmerman as soon as the kid attacked him. Just as we must at least acknowledge that things went down exactly as Zimmerman said. No we don't because one person is dead and the other one is possibly trying to cover up a murder. Many of us just wanted to see Georgie get 3-5 or 10 and do at least a couple of years but you right wing/LIBERTARIAN or whatever you call yourselves want to keep telling us how evil Trayvon Martin was. Give it a fuckign rest Zimmerman's blood was found on Martin's clothing I mean are you for fuckign real???
uncool2pillow
I mean are you for fuckign real???Why yes he is, go down to the part labeled 2:45. Hixter can be stubborn and not very open to other points of view, but at least he backs up his assertions with facts. http://blog.al.com/wire/2013/07/zimmermans_criminal_justice_ed.html
Atticus
I may just be bad at reading but I've not seen anyone in here defending Zimmerman or damning Martin--people have defended the trial verdict based on the evidence admitted IN the trial and the laws of Florida. Seems like people who don't like the verdict should focus their energies on changing the law rather than venting at people who are explaining how the verdict is defensible in context. Give it a fuckign restI've never said -- and I don't believe -- that Trayvon Martin was evil. And for what it's worth, I don't identify myself as right wing or Libertarian or anything else; I'm just a guy with an opinion. Hixter can be stubborn and not very open to other points of view, but at least he backs up his assertions with facts. I'll give you 'stubborn', but I'm very open-minded. lost highway
Well to be fair, I have pretty much damned Zimmerman. I have said that he's a piece of garbage, and that his vigilante tendencies put himself stupidly in a situation where he got an "ass whooping" and he responded by shooting someone and killing him. He fucking sucks. But that's not a legal judgement. I'm not saying the case is closed. What I have said is that if a court of law can't find sufficient evidence that they don't punish someone for something they can't sufficiently prove. That's a good model for the justice system. I still think he's guilty of manslaughter, but I'm not running a kangaroo court, which is good.

I can't find anything on Google and it's odd that they would say something like that, as Martin was too young to buy a handgun or obtain a concealed handgun license. JUDE
I just read Zimmerman ran a truck off the road causing it to flip over allowing him the opportunity to pull the injured man from the vehicle. He is a diabolical bastard that's for sure.
LouieB
I have to admit on one level I feel sorry for Zimmerman, because he is a psychopath and bit of a moron. While he survived this trial and this story will eventually fade to some extent, he will never have a normal life, with a job and maybe a family, and aspects of life we all enjoy. Its sad, but had he had half a brain, he would have stayed in his vehicle, kept his gun out of his hands, and just allowed Trayvon to go home, he would still be unknown. Its sad, but had he had half a brain, he would have stayed in his vehicle, kept his gun out of his hands, and just allowed Trayvon to go home, he would still be unknown.Or perhaps he'd be dead at Martin's hands. Trayvon Martin had every chance to go home, but he chose to physically attack George Zimmerman. His actions cost him his life.
lost highway
Zimmerman ran a truck off the road only after following the suspicious vehicle, and felt it was a threat to him. The truck had every chance, but blew it.

Doug C
Hixter is correct. I have been reading this Zimmerman portion of the thread for a couple of weeks and have decided to post. I would be willing to wager that I am as liberal/left wing as I Remember D. Boon (as if such a thing could be determined) but this case is quite clear. No matter how much folks assumed/were told that it all boiled down to George Zimmerman driving around, blasting Skrewdriver while on an N-word hunt, seeing Martin and suddenly yelling, "Yeehaw, I'm a gonna shoot me an N-word", the evidence, testimony, etc. do not bear that out. It was a tragedy that could have been prevented at several junctures. Basically, Zimmerman was wrongly convinced that Martin was a thief and Martin, according to Jeantel's testimony, was wrongly convinced that Zimmerman was a rapist. A fight ensued. When a fight breaks out and one of the 2 parties is armed (remember, like it or not, Zimmerman was legally armed), someone is getting shot. That is it. Was Zimmerman an over-zealous asshole? Quite possibly. According to the laws of the state of Florida, did he do anything illegal? He did not.
Hixter
Not being in Mexico or other countries with lower wages. It's not just other countries: many of the auto manufacturing jobs moved to other states. Toyota builds their Tacoma and Tundra trucks here in San Antonio because Texas is a business-friendly state with low taxes, cheap utilities and a labor force that isn't highly unionized.
