kidsmoke
Decorations? Christmas trees? Kids with Santa? Holiday baking? Whatever you've got! I've just come from the hospital where my 89-yr-old dad is recovering from surgery. He's doing well, all things considered, but my holiday spirit could use some tweaking. PS- How d'ya like the VC logo?

kidsmoke
Maudie, that looks so warm and inviting! I'm coming up the front steps; please have a cup of hot cocoa ready! Or perhaps a hot buttered rum. Thanks on the logo, Winston!
Queen Amaranthine
Love the logo! No pictures to share at the moment...although maybe later I'll scan one of my daughter with Santa. I think I mentioned somewhere in another topic here that my son isn't telling for sure, but he doesn't seem to believe in Santa anymore. However, he plays along for the fun of it, since it seems presents are at stake! May your dad have a swift recovery, Donna.
gogo
I posted this on Facebook the other day, but it definitely belongs here, too. We do these pictures every year, I'm pretty sure this is 2001 (back in the days when "age order" and "height order" were the same thing). The oldest is now a 22 year old college grad, and in the past 2-1/2 years we've added four more girls and a boy to this generation. Look for an updated version on 12/26! gogo
Yeah, he's in the 8th grade now, and he's still a little monkey! Although, taller than me, so not so little.
choo-choo-charlie
One of my college roommates unearthed this gem. It's a photo we used in a Christmas card we sent out during our last year of college. We sent it to our families, friends, professors, and even the university president. Those were the days... AJ673
Dear Kidsmoke, I hope your Dad is doing well and that, despite all, your holidays were full of love and happy memories! Mine was full of Lego.... Lots and lots of Lego! I sincerely wish you and yours a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
kidsmoke
Alison, so sweet of you to ask. It's been the hardest holiday season of my life, yet was filled with much love. My dad passed away peacefully, gently, surrounded by family, on December 22nd. I feel the loss keenly, but I also feel his love and his presence constantly. I'm so grateful that my kids and I were able to be with him at the very end. To all of you who still have your dads, be sure to tell them often how much they are loved. AJ673
Kidsmoke I am so deeply sorry for your loss. It is always tough to lose a loved one, especially during a holiday season... I didn't quite sense from your original posting how urgent things were, and for that I apologize... Remember the good times, raise a toast to the past and do not regret what might have been... for they are at peace. Alison
kidsmoke
Thanks, Alison, and no need to apologize as you couldn't have known. Following his surgery for an intestinal adhesion, he seemed to be recovering well at first, but his kidneys began to fail as they tried to clear the sedative, and he went slowly downhill. The family all had time to say their goodbyes, which was a huge blessing that many people don't get, and in the end his passing was very peaceful. I definitely feel a little lost in the world to realize he isn't here, physically, but his spirit lives on. Thanks so much for your caring words!
