Really - damn hippies. Is Wilco not "jammy" enough for them.

All the hippie/deadheads I know are all Wilco fans.

I am not Facebook, but their page is public - it's nice to see Lambert sticking up for Wilco - he is always talking about Wilco on his and Gans' Tales radio show.

We live in a Wilco bubble.  Amazing to me to read how many negative comments about Wilco have been posted on Lockn's FB page after this announcement.

I was so amused by all the accusations of Wilco being a hipster band.  I bet 4 out of 5 of hipsters surveyed would agree that Wilco is anything but!

I'm curious about the name of the festival -- is it a reference to a GD song or something?  Or short for "lock and load?"

I think it refers to two interlocking stages, which ensures there's never a break in the music. No overlapping choices so you don't have to miss anything  and there's continuous music. They also encourage collaborations among the performers. It's kind of a perfect festival for Wilco in that respect.

The comments on Facebook are a riot. I hope the boys have thick skins. It ranges from earnest, ardent Wilco defenders to completely clueless. One idiot even called them an emo band. There are some reasonable voices over there, though--people who may not be familiar but are not prejudging. And at least I haven't (so far) seen a specific mention of the dread "dad rock."

I would like to see the peeps who think they are "hipsters" get together with those who think they are "dad rock" and let them duke it out.  They can't be both, people.  Hint: they are neither.

there are a TON of old deadheads that know NOTHING about music outside of the Dead/Bluegrass/Jamband scene. And they never will. They haven't listened to a song written in the last 20 years unless its "If the shoe fits" :)

Its sad really and they don't want to change. They especially hate Phish.

They are absolutely some of the most close minded music fans on earth and that so sad considering what kind of musicologist Jerry was.

(not talking about all of them of course but the Deads got enough music to keep them mentally busy)

All I want nowadays IS to hear some NEW songs. I might have heard enough GD for the rest of my life. I used to go see some of the side projects once in awhile but not so much anymore. I know some people that listen to recordings of DSO shows. Id rather listen to Sarah Palin recite the encyclopedia

This is so funny to me. I had a couple Deadheads next to me at AmericanaramA the night that Bobby and Wilco broke out Dark Star in Atlanta. I was telling them before the set about how great Wilco is while they were sitting there getting high and drunk, and they eyed me skeptically. But when they heard the first few notes of Dark Star, they suddenly leapt to their feet and began boogieing away the whole time (even during the segue into Cali Stars). It was like they totally forgot that they were seeing Wilco playing a Dead tune...or maybe they just thought of them as Bob Weir's backing band at that moment.

When the Wilco set was over, I turned to them and said, "What do you think?" And the guy looked at me, acting very cool and nonchalant, and said, "Not bad, not bad." :lol

Hey, does anyone want to share a room with me at a nice B&B very nearby? My plan was to stay with friends in Charlottesville which I could do for free, but it's 30 miles away. There's a room at a local B&B about a mile or two from the fest, and it would be approximately $500 in all for a 4-night stay. Nice room with a private bath and tub for soaking tired bodies. Problem is they are requiring a 50% nonrefundable deposit, and at the moment I don't have a roommate, so I'm leery of commiting that much on my own.

I need a roommate!! Female preferred, but we could make it work if you're a nice guy. (It's a queen bed--we could build a pillow fortress!) I come with references. Easygoing, non-judgmental, etc. You can read between the lines. I can even pay for the $250 deposit up front--just need to know you are committed to coming. Your total all-in cost for the room would be $250. Such a deal!!

But you have to let me know right away. The room was still available this morning but could disappear anytime.Call or text me at 757-287-9871. It's Diane.

Edit: Reserved elsewhere.
