tinnitus photography
well that was a proper fucking rock show. not to take anything away from the previous night, but once the Star Wars material was done (and again, it was very nice, ranging from fist pumpers like "You Satellite" to the supremely sublime closer of "Magnetized"), the first song out of the gate was the previously scratched "Spiders (Kidsmoke)". Gloves down, statement made. i am too tired to fetch the notes tapped out my phone, but i'll have a full review and photo gallery up at DigBoston tmrw. suffice to say, i am very happy that my 13 y/o son got to see the show tonight w/ me. and he got to hear "Heavy Metal Drummer," as was his request (he pretty much knew "Magazine Called Sunset" was not gonna happen). a couple of key substitutions tonight included "Red Eyed and Blue" > "I Got You," and "You Are My Face." worldrecordplayer
Holy crap, what a show tonight boys and girls. From the very first moments, what a noticeable difference. The sound was awesome, maybe just my location, going from 9th row center to 3rd row center mezz and really pickIng up the pa. Did anyone else think the sound was noticeably better? Differences from night 1, tonight we got Siders as noted. The placement of that set the house on fire for the rest of show. You Are My Face tonight, and the rocker closer trio. Also Take Back and Just Zthat Simple, with a bring down the house roar for John. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
tinnitus photography
yeah, the crowd definitely gave John a huge round of applause/support for "It's Just That Simple"
jbray
It was an incredible show, I had a friend who left after Outtasite because he felt that the night was too perfect and didn't want to risk it. It's a shame because I thought the encore was more enjoyable tonight. I have been waiting to hear Kidsmoke electric since Solid Sound 2 so that put the fans around me and myself right into the post-Star Wars set with a fervor.
roadhse ma
Amazing night of once again; perfect pacing and audience participation at the right moments. They went a bit longer than last night.. Apparently their is a friends and family meet up after the show so that maybe the reason it's not 2:20 No matter ;Thankfull for the shows, and I know it will be awhile until the Boston sunshines on their faces again. So Thanks for putting us on your tour map. TexasPete66
I thought Friday was good but no comparison to last night. Better sound, better set, better energy on Saturday. Am i the only one that thinks HMD is the worst song Wilco has ever written? It's my designated bathroom break at every show. I guess I'm thankful for that so i dont have to miss anything. bböp
I guess Boston's not much of a setlist-noting town... Glad you all got what sounds like a longer, more rockin' show last night. Electric Spiders to kick off the post-SW set is definitely an interesting choice.

You are the only one I know of who thinks that way. It's a great rocker and tongue in cheek commentary on club rock. Maybe it holds a special place in my heart as when I went to college in St. Louis I worked at a restaurant on the landing and would go here music in those clubs all the time. Mississippi Nights and Muddy Waters place are the two I recall.

worldrecordplayer
One set list detail: they skipped a verse in Taste the Ceiling. The part that starts "Why do our disasters creep so slowly into view." My favorite line in the song. Somehow they went straight into the bridge or chorus or whatever you would call it. Jeff's bead snapped back momentarily when he realized it, and they never went back to it. EDIT: I listened to the recording today, what I posted is totally wrong. They did indeed sing that line. Don't know where I was.

I can't make 'em all, so it's always great to see and hear about what I've missed. I just figured with so many people on here going to the Orpheum shows that there'd be at least one eager beaver who would quickly post. But no worries, I know the setlists will emerge eventually... Funny about Taste The Ceiling...that's one of my favorites from SW too. And I have to say I'm a little surprised there weren't a couple more real nuggets either night. I'm not sure there was anything there that I would classify as being really out of left field (insert Green Monster joke here), but maybe there was a lack of ballot box-stuffing for these shows. tinnitus photography
Just an observation that Jeff seems to have come to peace with people using phones to take photos and vids. It wasn't excessive but there was no lockdown like at previous shows I've seen.

Electric Spiders to kick off the post-SW set is definitely an interesting choice. Magnetized > Spiders was actually the highlight for me. Maybe it's because the material is still new, but the songs from Star Wars feel pretty unique to the album. Hearing Spiders after Magnetized helped break down that barrier between new/old; Spiders felt like something that could've been on SW. Maybe I'm just making something out of nothing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this iteration of Spiders and appreciated its placement in the set. I was, like most, hoping for more variety. I have 0 complaints though. The band was all business. There was no talking and no breaks between songs. I'm thankful to have caught these two Boston shows, and am excited to see how the SW songs make their way into future Wilco set lists. One thought I had during the show -- it's tough to imagine Jeff playing any of the new songs solo. It's going to be a lot of fun to see how/if he reworks them.

I was banging the ballot box for each of the three shows I saw: I Must Be High, She's A Jar, and Summer Teeth. I went 0 for 3. This is a SW and greatest hits tour. Nothing played last night wasn't played at one of the previous two shows. No deep cuts at all. I am not complaining, last night was a top tier show in every way. I'm sure no one cares, but Outta Mind (Outta Sight) is the so-called "Sesame Street" version of the song.
rjhesq
point well taken. actually I copied the set list from post #11 above, which was a repost from a facebook post. oh well. can't change it now, the horse is out of the barn. once it's on the torrent site, I'd only take it down for a major problem, 'cause it would screw up the people already downloading it. I also screwed up the tag for the 1-29 show, putting the year at 2106. In a Future Age.....
worldrecordplayer
Sounds excellent Bob. I just listened to Spiders. Bob can't change it, but we can all edit our downloads.
