chuckrh
On first listen I am absolutely floored by this song. Stunning. Can't stop listening.I don't usually say anything like this but I think he may be America's greatest artist. I know there would be an argument about this but just look at the body of work. it's been a few years since i've seen him but last time was transcendent. i've seen him a real lot & there have been a few clunkers but he is always at least interesting. what i've heard of the current line up is fantastic. mountain bed
I don't even know what to think or say about this. It almost feels like a requiem for the soul of America or something. Nobody can do to me what Bob does. Thanks, Bob.
jw harding
I don't even know what to think or say about this. It almost feels like a requiem for the soul of America or something. Nobody can do to me what Bob does. Thanks, Bob. Yes, that's a good way to put it. He seems to think the assassination of JFK was a turning point that has lead to this moment. Although he has said that slavery is something that America has not been able to recover from as well.

Winston Legthigh
I see Netflix added the Scorsese documentary (again?) recently. Such a great film. My wife was watching over her shoulder as I started it up the other night. She started chuckling when Dylan started belting out "DIDN'T YOUUUUUUUUUUU?!?!?!" during the Like a Rolling Stone sequence. jw harding
Always interesting to see what the Dylanologists come up with about the new material. Apparently the 3 new songs have some pretty direct references to the Egyptian Book of the Dead. I have a hard time imagining Dylan has been spending much time reading that lately, but I suppose it's possible. I think Dylan just has the ability to tap into the unconscious and has cracked some sort of linguistic code. Whatever the case, adds a fun layer to the new songs. chuckrh
Judging by the first 3 songs, Bob is unleashing another, maybe final, masterpiece on us at age 79. False Prophet is stunning.
The Inside of Outside
I thought False Prophet was pretty good, too. I tend to focus on his vocal inflections - that is where I try to get a sense of how "into it" he is. It is really noticeable in concert, as sometimes he is just garbling it up and other times he is precise in his phrasing. On False Prophet, it seems like he is paying close attention to his phrasing. Like he is trying. And I appreciate that, as he is 79 years old and could just keep mailing it in.
chuckrh
It's been a few years since I've seen him but last time was fantastic. I've seen him a lot going back 1977. Have seen absolutely transcendent shows & some that weren't that, haha. Recent reports have just about all been great. I'm glad Charlie Sexton came back to the band. Great guitar player. Last show Bob didn't say anything but just stood at the front of the stage, arms crossed, nodding. Like "ya, i kicked your ass"!
