So please tell me this cretin won't be getting away with his crap? Will the GOP look the other way and hope the news moves on?

Are these people ever going to be held to account? Politics (currently at least) suck.:angry

I understand he uses Venmo for all his minor purchases.

Can I at least get a rim shot for that one? 🙂

I hope someone steps up and challenges him for this seat. Ideally someone from within his own party would run against him, but who knows if that will happen? Florida seems to be a very frightening place.

A Florida woman says a "baby dinosaur" was caught on surveillance video running through her yard

That definitely looked like a baby dinosaur. My favorite news stories always seem to be about Florida Man or Florida Woman. Are there drugs in the FL water supply or what? :monkey:twitchsmile:blink

As for Gaetz, it seems already like this story is fading away. I hope it doesn't. Creeps like him don't belong representing anybody.

The whole "Florida is weird" narrative is pretty played out. I've seen comedians like Bill Maher (and have heard favorites like Marc Maron) talk about how weird it is here, as they always seem to find the most bizarre news story that supports their misapprehension that Florida is a lot like Mississippi or Alabama. It isn't.

I've lived here for over 25 years, and it's absolutely beautiful. My wife and I live in a gated community in a safe, highly desirable neighborhood. We're a 45-minute drive from beaches that have been consistently rated among the best in America. Whenever I see one of those memes of someone wanting to cut FL off the continent and let it float out to sea, I find it pretty ironic. We don't have fires, floods, earthquakes, or mud slides where I live, and my county hasn't been hit with a hurricane this century.

Here's are a few weird news stories a little closer to home. :P

Ok Mr. Heartbreak, point taken! :P Obviously it's not so much the people of Florida who drive me crazy, so much as the rotten politicians that operate there. And oh yes, everywhere else has its share of loons. There just seem to be a disproportionate number of these stories from your particular state. But that said, I know Florida is a gorgeous place, and I have dear friends who call it home and love her as you do. So apologies for ragging on your home.:spider3

And true about CA... That guy who tried to pick up the rattlesnake with BBQ tongs is from right here in town. I understand his hand is better (where he got bit) but he's still recovering in the local hospital.

Wow, can't believe that rattlesnake guy is that close. Hilarious!

There's no denying that in the past few years, FL seems to have had some of the biggest political turds to hit the national stage. I'd like to get rid of all of 'em. Still, I can't help thinking back to a certain Ronnie Ray-gun...Seems to me he was sort of the proto-Trump, no? Check out Bill Burr's routine about Ah-Nold for some other CA guv hilarity, too...

In his defense, he was trying to throw it out of his backyard. :lol With 18" BBQ tongs!

Animal Control captured it with 5 foot long tongs.

I hated Ray-gun years before the rest of the country. He was a shit governor. And yes, trump is very much his heir. Ah-Nold I liked better.

He's still under active investigation by the FBI for sex trafficking, no? So, unless that investigation has been squashed, I don't think this fades away.

I seriously hope they put this POS away for real. Federal prison, general population.

Then again, I hope the same for 45, DeSantis...

As a proud Kentuckian I have to say I feel your pain. If we make the news it usually not flattering and we are popular punchlines for most jokes relating to illiteracy, obesity and incest. Being said I absolutely love my state and all of its unique areas. We have some of the best scenery in the world, its cheap and people for the most part really look out for each other. I've actually been asked numerous times by visitors or transplants "why is everyone so nice?"...like its offending them that everyone is so nice!!!

I heartily concur.  It helps that you and I live in the more populated / university-influenced / (dare I say) progressive areas of the state.  There's definitely a lot of great folks all over, but the newsmakers you mentioned out in KY's rural maga-land are very much real.  But we're getting there.
