Here I am - late to the party as usual!! Awesome news - found out last night through a friend and bought my ticket just a couple of minutes ago. I'd use the dancing smiley face, but I'm a much worse dancer than that.

The anticipated release date of 'Archives, Volume 1' is September this year. The collection will feature eight discs, including "Live At the Filmore" (released last November) and "Live At Massey Hall", a solo set from 1971 which is due out on March 26 . Thirty-eight previously unreleased songs will feature on Archives, billed as a 'musical autobiography' of Neil Young. Tanta

Another thing on those who say he releases too much stuff. What would you prefer, someone who put out an album every four-five years and have every song be great, or someone who puts out 1-2 albums a year where maybe 60% of the songs are great? I know I'd take the latter anyday... As long as we get the killer tunes, who cares how much is padded around it? RA is like a lot of other people where his fans cannot agree at all as to what the best and worst songs are on any given album, so maybe it's best he releases it all and keeps us happy

People criticised him before all this came out for putting out every fart that he recorded, and now when he pretty much does release it all and people think he's actually being serious?!? "I read a review of a show where he was an asshole to some guy who kept calling him Bryan (great joke, might by a ticket to his show just so I can do that to him, see if he's a prick to me too), so it must mean he's a humourless, arrogant prick all the time and that every song he releases is a complete rip-off of someone else and that Adams thinks each is the greatest song ever, man..."

You've got 'Dark End of the Street' but you still need Clarence Carter's 'Makin' Love (At the Dark End of the Street)'. On that note, you also need; 'Slip Away' - Clarence Carter 'Have You Ever Loved a Woman?' - Derek & the Dominos Probably a lot more but I can't think right now...

Really only one song that comes to mind... 'Thunder Road'

I dunno whether he should be or not. Hessie left the band once before so he could be with his family, and the band toured without him, so I don't see why this would be any more of a problem than that was.

The plan is for both the Performance series *and* the box sets to be released, the first of which (8cds, 2dvds) is due later this year. What makes this year different than any other year that the first box has supposed to be released? That one older concert has already been released and another is due in a couple of months. The Fillmore and now Massey Hall gigs are signs that things are actually moving.

Definitely 'his' I'm not really complaining too much about the band themselves (although they've been here before and named a song after Rottnest Island, which is just off the west coast), more the people in Australia who organise tours by bands and seemingly leave Perth and sometimes Adelaide completely out of the equation when the audience is here, all we need is the talent to come here. As for flying across - it's a lovely idea but I can't keep doing it. Flew from Perth to Adelaide (via Melbourne - check that on the map and ask why on earth it would be cheaper) in November to see U2

Nice that Wilco's joined the fray of countless artists/bands who think that Australia is limited to three cities on the eastern seaboard.

I passed up an opportunity to go to that final gig. I thought that no one would turn up an there'd just be a handful of people at the Opera House with no atmosphere whatsoever and that it would a bad way to see the guys go out. Boy did I get it wrong!

Cheers for the heads up before - I got in just in time. As for the album itself - this is nothing new for me having had the bootlegs for a few years now, but the sound quality blows it away, and I'm only listening to the lossy version. As for it being ragged - it's Crazy Horse, that's their specialty Needless to say, I love it. The ragged 'Winterlong' with Danny Whitten sharing the vocals is something to behold.

The original TTN isn't circulating and has only been heard by those who made it and others in the Neil Young circle. There could be a bootleg from the sessions, but it is definitely not the 'original' TTN. That could be being saved for the second volume of Archives, if and when they get released. In fact, since it was made in 1973, it should be the on the first or second disc of that set, since the first volume is said to finish with 'War Song', the single Neil and Graham Nash put out in 1972.

The guy at Pitchfork is obviously that guy you used to hang out with and after every joke was told he'd whinge that he "didn't get it" and make you explain it to him bit by bit. Fer chrissakes, even Rolling Stone got the joke!

Just to add to my post above, my most abiding memory, not so much of 'Nevermind', but the whole Nirvana 'thing', was shortly after Kurt Cobain died, a good friend of mine at school who had recently broken his arm and still had his cast on, spent all his days writing hundreds of 'K's on his cast all in different sizes. Another guy I went to school with had actually carved a 'K' into his arm, and another had the date Cobain died tattooed on his ankle. Didn't strike me as healthy fascinations then, and they seem even more stupid now.
