Another example of big in the U.K. but not here. "Fields of Fire" didn't quite crack the top 40 in the U.S., though I remember hearing it on the radio quite a bit (and I think there was a video for it).

I don't believe that Eggs Benedict is typically eaten with the hands as a sandwich, however -- despite its components.

Calling them "humorous" may be a stretch, but the fact is, Buffett didn't seem to take himself too seriously. That's why his name shouldn't be invoked when talking about Jack Johnson, who seems dead serious about his suckitude.

Breakfast burritos are vomitrocious. Egg McMuffin all the way. And no, I don't believe there were "millions" of people already making breakfast sandwiches prior to the introduction of the McMuffin. I'd want to see some evidence of that.

There was this band out of England way back ... they had a U.S. #1 hit early in 1964 called "I Want To Hold Your Hand." Then, from what I can tell, they completely disappeared.
-
They had two #1 hits ("A Horse With No Name," "Sister Golden Hair") and five others that cracked the top ten, including "Ventura Highway."

Jack Johnson blows goats. Prefab formulaic radio-ready horseshit.

I'm not a McDonald's fan, but the McMuffin is the best thing on their menu, and it really did revolutionize the way restaurants offer breakfast. It seems that everyone now offers some kind of breakfast sandwich. RIP, Herb.

When did Axl Rose become Boy George?

I'm with you on that. Too bad it'll never happen -- it makes too much sense.

Is Michio Kaku also promising jetpacks? Because I want a jetpack.

Easy for you to say, whitey.

No. But Lamrod seems to think that racism is the fault of its victims.
-
So the victims of racism bring it on themselves. Gotcha. I suppose white people are completely blameless, then?

I'm not a huge fan of that record, but I understand why many people think it's great. What I've never understood is all the praise for the Use Your Illusion albums. They could easily have condensed the best stuff from those into a single album, and even then it wouldn't have been all that great. Seriously overrated.

I agree. And yet, I'm one of the few defenders of Hawk Harrelson (though I too am tired of most of his clich

So, racism is the fault of black preachers? Get real.

If by "apple fritter" you mean "Honda Civic," then I'd agree. C'mon, Bill can afford it.

I find this wording to be overly optimistic: I think "would be" is the safer choice here.

I only get a few minutes to listen before heading out to work ... but it's nice to hear some live-as-it-happens Wilco in the morning! This has been a pretty weird morning ... watching an official MLB game while listening to webcast Wilco ... if only all mornings could be like this.

I assume you're talking about the idea of reparations for slavery? Personally, I don't believe that monetary reparations make sense, and I wouldn't support that. I am not against providing some kind of extra boost to the descendants of slaves -- that's why I've always supported affirmative action. But of course, the courts have been chipping away at that lately. Ann Arbor's been a battleground on that issue.

Hadn't seen that stuff, but there's also this. From the comments: "That

Yeah, I wish I could go to either of those, but I just can't. Fortunately I did see them here in Ann Arbor on their first North American leg.

Major vibes to Tara. Sounds like a terrifying experience. May her recovery be swift!
