He's probably somewhat chummy with Mary Sue Coleman, U-M's president (she was at Iowa before coming to Ann Arbor).

The theory I heard put forward this morning is that there's currently a one-year waiting period for a former U.S. senator who wants to return to Washington as a lobbyist, but a new law goes into effect on January 1 that makes it a two-year period ... ol' Trent wants to bail before the end of the year so he doesn't have to wait that long to become even more evil than he already is.

There's one downtown here. I think I've eaten there once, but I have little memory of it. That part of town is overrun by icky college students, so I don't get down there much.

Huh. All three films show up as available on Netflix when I search. Does Netflix availability vary by region? edit: sorry, I misunderstood ... someone told me months ago that the -qatsi films weren't up there, and I thought that's what was being referred to. I do find Our Daily Bread on Netflix, but it's not available on DVD yet (release date listed as "Unknown"), so it won't be at Blockbuster either.

Do many people here not have the DVD? -
I briefly got to 47, but fell back down again.

I've done my thousand for the night. I'll be back, though.

I use si.com and mlb.com (and various official team sites). When I need to look up some stats or something, it's baseball-reference.com.

Rivera's already agreed to it, and I believe those are the terms.

I do not like Moe's. They're kind of the bastard stepchild of Qdoba, to my mind. Food's not as good, and the staff are apparently compelled to all yell "welcome to Moe's!" (or something) whenever someone walks in the door. Bleah.

The jukebox in the main college bar in the town where I went to college had that single. And people actually paid to hear both sides of it once in a while.

Chipotle was founded in Denver in 1993. Qdoba (nee Zteca) was founded in Denver in 1995. So, what's with Denver being ground zero for Subway-style Mexican fast-food joints? I give the nod to Qdoba, personally, though we only got our first Chipotle here in the last year or two.

Their bread used to be awful, but yeah, it's pretty good now. I believe I've used exactly the same words to describe that town. They don't serve breakfast around these parts, though some Wendy's are combined with Tim Hortons, and Timbits are the true breakfast of champions.

Glad to see I'm not the only Posies fan around here. I was a serious fanboy for a number of years. Still am, really. because it doesn't get enough love even from GBV fans. Speaking of the Posies, have you heard Jon Auer's version of "Gold Star For Robot Boy"? A great cover of a great song.

Jesus Break-Dancing Christ with a mullet on a skateboard. And to think that I previously regarded the Double Quarter Pounder w/Cheese as the ultimate in artery-clogging disgustitude. It's strictly amateur-level.
-
Aw, man. I never knew his name until now, but I love those album covers. That sucks. RIP, Reggie.

You can't go wrong with the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese at McDonald's, super-sized value meal, with a large milkshake.

You're most welcome. Actually, I might prefer "Sold You An Alibi" just for the killer riff and vocal, but "Hellbent" is probably the better song.
