link Winehouse in the doghouse after 'atrocious' tour debut Thu Nov 15, 8:59 AM ET LONDON (AFP) - Troubled soul singer Amy Winehouse kicked off her 17-date tour with a shambolic performance that saw fuming fans booing and marching out, reports said Thursday. The concert at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, was a chance for the 24-year-old to get back to singing and put her woes behind her. Winehouse has had "health issues" -- widely reported to be drug and alcohol abuse -- and her party-loving husband Blake Fielder-Civil is being held on grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to

Another day, another Blender list
cryptique replied to boywiththorninside's topic in Someone Else's Song
I own five in paid-for copies, and three in "other" copies. -
Huh. I haven't heard of that either. Loved her first album, though (and liked her second, though not nearly as much). edit: Wikipedia has it listed as her first release, an EP from 1999. Interesting. Any good? NP:

Ted Leo's The Tyranny of Distance is better than most of the stuff on that list. It's not a bad list, but mine would look a lot different. -
Glad to hear that they rocked some socks off in Chicago. I didn't think their Ann Arbor show was that great, but it was really late on a Tuesday night, way too loud, and I was already exhausted after seeing Springsteen the night before, so maybe I just wasn't in the mood. It was still a show I'm glad I saw -- those guys were a big part of my college years.

The latest Ryan Adams thread

Took me a second to realize that the thread subtitle was a song title rather than an insult. -

I believe you're thinking of Carlos Mencia. Cook had a pretty decent Comedy Central special several years ago, but he's barely uttered an amusing word since then.

I just realized that I have been participating in computer message board thingies for over 20 years. My first one was on a campus-wide mainframe. -

I'm in the current contestant pool, wondering if I'll get the call. -

You can't mention that without telling us what it was. -
Possibly my favorite breakfast food. It's best when you wrap it in plastic and leave it in the fridge overnight ... if it stays in the box it gets dried out. I've sometimes dreamed of opening a pizza place that serves cold leftover pizza in the morning, except that the restaurant inspectors probably wouldn't be too impressed with that.

The second disc is the real treasure here. Wow.

Dunno. There are still a bunch I haven't seen from past seasons, though, so I hope to catch up a bit while they're showing reruns. (I've seen the Ghana one they're showing tonight, though.) -

I also watch Bourdain on the Travel Channel. -
I'm not sure I see any of that happening (except maybe your implication that LSU will win the BCS title). Miles would be crazy to leave LSU for Michigan, and I'm not convinced that Carr is leaving. But I appreciate your enthusiasm...

If only more people thought that way. As a lifelong Michigan fan (and Chicago Bears fan), I've learned to keep the smack talk in check. I'd love to go off about how the Wolverines are going to take down the Buckeyes this weekend, but I have no confidence about that game.

Pretty good, overall. There were moments I loved and moments I didn't. The setlist isn't quite what I'd ask for, but I'm one of those liked-their-earlier-stuff fans, so I wouldn't expect them to try to please me. I enjoyed it, and it'll probably get an occasional spin 'round these parts. Why did Mills(?) sing "Rockville"? I don't get that. It really needed Stipe's help, especially in the bottom range. I haven't seen them in quite a while, though ... does Mills always sing that one? Do they even play it much these days?

You need a little work on your smack talk.

First chance I've had to listen to this.

I hope so. I never meant for it to become one.
