  1. Here's a stupid connection between Wilco and Radiohead that I worked out with far too many steps in between: Wilco worked with Jim O'Rourke O'Rourke was a member of Sonic Youth Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore was part of the Backbeat band with Dave Grohl Grohl played with Soundgarden's Kim Thayil in something called the No WTO Band Soundgarden's Chris Cornell was a member of Temple of the Dog with Eddie Vedder Vedder appeared on Neil Finn's 7 Worlds Collide album/DVD with members of Radiohead Wow, where did the last hour go?
  2. Not the dumbest way for a ballplayer to get injured, but this is close.
  3. I can get from Spoon to Mariah Carey in a few steps, but that's all I got. edit: I just realized I can get from Spoon to Bob Dylan. Cool.
  4. I think you're forgetting about Clarence's buff phase (which coincided with BITUSA).
  5. Best part of that movie. Unfortunately, much of the rest of it plays like a long, convoluted setup to that one joke. Even so, it wasn't Brooks' worst.
  6. Wow. That's a hard trio to beat. "Don't Let Me Down" is probably my favorite Beatles tune, and I really love "Rain." Hadn't thought about "Two of Us," but there's no reason why that shouldn't be mentioned among the very best ... though personally, I'd probably replace it with the Let It Be...Naked version of "Across the Universe."
  7. Yeah, I'm not buying it either, but you never know.
  8. So did Clarence, though. They were probably working out together.
  9. I've always had that era marked with a mental asterisk anyway.
  10. ...except that "That Year" was on No Depression, not Still Feel Gone, which came out in early 1990, so it could work after all.
  11. No, but it enhances one's enjoyment. Linda McCartney told me that I know from personal experience.
  12. But was there bacon on that cheeseburger?
  13. I love autumn. I just hope we actually get one this year. It seems that all too often in recent years we've gone straight from summer into winter, or maybe had a week or so of anything that could be reasonably called "autumn." At least there's cider. I've already been making the rounds of the local cider mills. Unpasteurized or bust!
  14. Looking amazingly good for his 88 years. I hope Pete lives to be 150.
  15. We have been, in the "1 beloved album" thread.
  16. Being a Gators fan, I stayed on the Rex Grossman bandwagon for too long. I remember what he did at Florida, and I hoped he could do the same for the Bears. The fact that Lovie Smith continues to trot him out there is now causing me to question Smith's competence. My new rallying crying is "Sit Rex or Fire Lovie."
