  1. So, the U.S. women survived the group stage, making a first-minute goal by Lori Chalupny hold up against Nigeria. Sweden beat North Korea 2-1, but I believe the North Koreans will advance on goal differential. So the # 3 team in the world (Sweden) won't advance. By winning their group outright, the U.S. avoid a quarterfinals matchup with defending champions Germany ... but that North Korea-Germany match should be a barn burner. This has been pretty exciting stuff so far. I hope I can watch some of the elimination rounds live (I had to track the U.S.-Nigeria match on FIFA.com's matchcast).
  2. The Cubs have tied it in the bottom of the ninth, and had a runner on third with nobody out. In that situation, why would you intentionally walk one guy, but not two? That move's got me confused. edit: DeRosa wins it.
  3. My own fault for having so many other tabs open, I guess ... closing the browser killed all my other stuff. I had six or seven other tabs going. I wasn't able to close the browser for a while because of it jumping all over the screen, and when I finally got to the red X, it tried to put me through a bunch of "OK" dialogs. Bah. Fucking stupid bullshit. Let's talk about football.
  4. Humorless? Your link commandeered my browser, and it took quite a long time to shut it down. I ended up losing stuff I was doing FOR WORK in the other tabs of my browser, and I'm still trying to recover all of that stuff. I'm already up a lot later than I want to be this evening, and you probably set me back another half an hour. If that's your idea of humor, I guess I have another user to add to my "ignore" list.
  5. Dude. Extremely uncool. You're seriously risking getting reported for that. I thought about doing it myself. Oh, and everyone else -- don't click the link in his previous message. Seriously. (I changed it in the quote box above.) Admin note: Original link has been removed from this thread as it was causing problems.
  6. Wearing my old high school's uni. That's the only reason I don't think he's evil incarnate.
  7. That sure would look a lot different from its current location.
  8. Though I'm probably guilty of it myself, I really try not to put myself on the team by using the word "we." Also, I've noticed that a lot of fans tend to use "we" to describe their favorite teams when they're doing well, but "they" when they're not. "We have a great team this year" vs. "They can't play defense for shit."
  9. Don't get too used to it. They've now played the two easiest games on their schedule, and they needed OT to beat the Vikings at home. They do look a bit better this year, but I still don't see them reaching 8-8.
  10. Nipped that shit in the bud*, too. I need to try that more often. * - Actually, by then it was way past bud stage, but still.
  11. I saw that one in the bathrooms at my college library, except with the name of the south campus dining hall. Two that I remember from the UM-OSU rivalry years ago: Q: Why doesn't Ohio fall into Kentucky? A: Because Michigan sucks! Directions to Columbus: south 'til you smell it, east 'til you step in it. One time in Gainesville, I saw a bumper sticker that said "What's the best thing to come out of Tallahassee? I-10"
  12. This just arrived in my inbox. Courtroom Drama Columbus, OH (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Franklin County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When
  13. That setlist looks fantastic! I'm sad I missed this show. Fifteen songs off my favorite three Stevie albums!
  14. Did not know that. Cool that they're letting us see them at more "normal" hours. I've watched the second halves of a few matches live this week after waking up in the morning. So ... I guess maybe I should change the thread title to warn about potential spoilers.
  15. Any excuse to go to London ... and November is hardly the height of tourist season, so I might be able to find a deal or two. If they then do a full tour, I'll go to that too.
  16. Interesting. I've bought Musictoday tickets before and they were completely different from Ticketbastard tickets. nectars, I'm guessing you're fine. Not all of the stock on which tickets are printed is the same. Ticketmaster has their own, and that's what people are used to, but other places do use different stock.
