A place to whine and act peeved and put upon

I said acceptable. Jonestown might be a bit closer, but still on the wrong side of that line. -
Did anybody else see this? A few observations/opinions... 1. What's the point? I mean, if you're going to do an NFL "best players" list, why not keep it at a manageable number, like 50? But even then, what's the point? 2. Doesn't it make more sense to do this at (or near) the end of a season? By August, I barely remember half the guys on my favorite team, never mind every other team. 3. Does anyone besides Peter King think that Rex Grossman is the 166th best player in the NFL right now? I mean, I'm a Bears fan and a Florida Gators fan, so Rex should be my guy, but even I have begun to

This may end up as my choice for album of the year ... I'm sure it'll be in my top 3, regardless.

I don't like people very much. Is there any acceptable way to rid the world of most of them? -
Sad that Ken's not involved, but his talent is pretty much wasted in R.E.M. anyway ... I mean, keyboards? Seriously? You've got one of the best vocalists in rock 'n roll (this side of Stipe himself), who also happens to be a talented guitarist and an endlessly energetic stage presence, and you're going to stick him on a stool behind the keyboards? As for the new album ... I'll believe it's more rocking and guitar-based when I hear it. To me, R.E.M. hasn't been the same band since Peter Buck decided he no longer wanted to play constant barrages of eighth notes, which was about the time they j

What else do they grow at Yankee Farm? Money, apparently.

I'd just like to point out that I cranked up MLB.com's online "Gameday" thing for this game just as Lowell stepped to the plate, so you can all thank me (and my friend Mike) for breaking up the no-hitter. I accept cash.

MIKE LOWELL, ladies and gentlemen.

I remember the last time I got hit in the wang. It hurt. Ever since then, I've adopted a strict "no-hit" policy.

The Ryan Adams crowd could easily beat up the Bright Eyes crowd. I'm not saying that's a criterion by which to decide. It's just an observation.

Ryan Adams. I've made my opinion of Bright Eyes pretty clear in the past ... let's just say I'm not a fan and leave it at that.

I've mentioned this in other threads, but here's what I'm looking forward to: Sept. 25 Georgie James - Places I've been listening to a leak from that pig place, and the album is fantastic.

It depends on whether that building also houses my porn collection.

They were fantastic when I saw them a couple of years ba-- Oh, wait. That was, like, 1997. Well, still, they rocked and stuff.

How long before Markus Larsson is hired by Pitchfork?

I love studying maps ... it's a bit of an obsession. I've been staring at U.S. maps for too long ... need to move up to a world atlas, because I'm still a bit shaky on identifying the various countries of Africa. Elsewhere, I'm pretty good (though there are those damn former Soviet republics ... can't keep a few of them straight).

Zero. I have no interest in being part of an unwanted pregnancy (corresponds to my total lack of interest in ever having kids).

Damn. I saw a story about his collapse on Sunday and thought wow, at least there were doctors right there and he was successfully resuscitated. I figured maybe he'd have to give up his athletic career, but at least he was alive. Then this.

Mmmph. Lack of sleep will do that.

If Wilco were playing in the evening after a Wolverines-Buckeyes football game, there might actually be enough cultured, intelligent people in town to fill a large venue. Otherwise, you'll probably have the place more or less to yourself.
