This. Seriously. I believe the discs can be bought individually, but c'mon, take the plunge. Great minds...

Pre-1988. Specifically 1983, with the release of Newcleus' "Jam On It." After that, it was all downhill.

No, I don't. He's in the Hall of Fame, end of story. You can argue all you want about his worthiness, but he's in, no asterisks. I'm not aware of any cheating allegations involving Rizzuto, or anything else of that nature in which his name has been mentioned, so why would there be an asterisk?
-
Huh? So, guys elected to the Hall by the Veterans Committee are somehow less worthy? I would agree that Rizzuto was borderline at best, but it's not like that committee just inducts every guy who ever suited up. Look at who they've rejected over the last several years.

I'll give Sammy credit for being quite a guitarist in his own right, but I never much liked Montrose or his solo material, and I found the Van Hagar stuff downright annoying. Hard to believe Sammy turns 60 later this year. Roth is seven years younger, but you'd never know it. I will probably pony up the $125 for a decent seat, just because I've said for the last twenty years that if Van Halen ever toured again with David Lee Roth, I wanted to go. I just didn't think it would take this long to actually happen. There are "VIP" ticket packages that guarantee better seats, but one is $350 (*

I doubt it. They probably won't spend much time in the same room -- they'll see each other onstage and that'll be about it. For the amount of cash they'll all make from this tour, I suspect they'll put up with a lot of DLR's bullshit.

Still are, I suspect. -

RIP, Scooter. The stats cited in his obit just show how much the game has changed. What chance would someone have these days of being named MVP with only 7 homers and 66 RBI? -
They're being pretty secretive about pricing so far, but I'm guessing it'll be more expensive than $40, except maybe for the nosebleed seats.
-
Yeah, that's just rude. They also seem to have forgotten about the Van Hagar years in the front-page band bio (which is just fine by me, but still).
-
Who are you again?

A couple of additional resources... Lotsa links (Billboard site requires subscription) Billboard top 100 (reprinted)

The magazine that employed and regularly published P.J. O'Rourke is "so damn liberal"? Hmmmm...

So, did you miss those two other threads?

It has everything to do with what you're saying. You said "Every once in a while someone complains about how shitty RS is. If you haven't noticed, its been pretty much the same magazine for at least the past 10 years." I'm saying that 30 years ago it wasn't nearly as shitty. Going back only 10 years misses the point completely.
-
If you haven't noticed, a lot of people here remember what the magazine was like 30 or even 40 years ago.

Fixed it for you. What, you can't remember to log back in under the appropriate name any more?

Can you please back up your claim that Orkie is "widely considered the biggest troll at ViaChicago"? This is something I have not seen*. You should be able to provide examples, if such a claim is so widespread. * - Oh yes I have.

If anyone wants to buy a pair of pretty good tickets to the 8/14 CH show in Ann Arbor, face value ($35 apiece), PM me. edit: tickets have been sold.

OK, so obviously no one's interested in this one. Nevertheless, here's the Salon.com review: "Stardust" This luminous, magical movie, based on the Neil Gaiman novel, will dazzle even the fantasy-film phobic. By Stephanie Zacharek Aug. 10, 2007 | There are people who love fantasy movies as a genre, and people who end up loving fantasy movies in spite of themselves: I know more than one person who, turned off by the intricate imagined universe of J.R.R. Tolkien's novels (as well as, perhaps, by the clubbiness of all those Tolkien devotees), approached Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings"

Can you tell me more about this "sleeping really really fast"? Sounds like something I ought to learn.
-
Did you tell him that at least 85% of what he says during telecasts is utter bullshit, and he should try letting his colleagues talk once in a while? ....because that's what I would've said.

Oh, duh, I forgot an obvious one... I was an extra in a film featuring Mayim Bialik (Blossom). She was pretty cool. There were some reasonably well-known names in the film, though I didn't meet any of them. The only other actor of note on the set that day was Josie Davis, who's been in a bunch of stuff. Also, the guy who's married to Carrie Ann Moss, whose name I don't recall.
