A very small, mostly midwestern/Big 10 campus chain. There used to be one in Kalamazoo (WMU). I've also eaten at one in Chicago. By rights, Ann Arbor should have one, but alas, no.

Yeah, that's not far from that garbage plate, I'd say.

I used to be able to put away stuff like that (the Garbage Plate), but now it just leads to misery and regret. Plus, it's added up to a lot of extra pounds over the years.

I saw Glenn a few years back at the Ark here in town. Disappointing crowd, but that may have been due to a one-night delay following a tour bus breakdown. He played a smashing show and sounded fantastic. It's too bad that Gilson Lavis isn't part of this new Squeeze tour.

So, is the life expectancy noticeably lower in Rochester?

For serious drunk food, I prefer gyros or a doner kebab ... or in a pinch, something like La Bamba (i.e., Mexican but not Taco Bell). White Castle would only make me more likely to hurl.

Doesn't look like they're playing any dates here in flyover country. I'd love to see 'em, but they'll have to come a lot closer.

You people are all sick. That place is disgusting. DISGUSTING. That said, there's a White Castle over on the edge of town that I've been known to drive through on occasion.

I've seen some disappointing turnouts at the Magic Stick over the last few years. I like the venue, but let's face it, it's Detroit, and most of the crowd that would come see a lesser-known rock band would be commuting from the 'burbs. I've seen good turnouts for bands like Spoon and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, and horrendous turnouts for the Posies and a couple of others. The Michigan legislature is currently tossing around a smoking ban, and of course the restaurant and bar groups are lobbying furiously against it. I hope to cod it passes, and includes bars and nightclubs -- I'll go out
