Twins are up on the White Sox 16-0 in the 7th. What the hell. Seven runs in the second, six in the sixth.

This hit my inbox a couple days ago: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Elvis Costello Fans; Elvis Costello and The Sugarcanes are going out on the road in support of his new CD "Secret, Profane and Sugarcane" being released on June 2nd! Elvis is touring with "The Sugarcanes", a special new band for these shows featuring Jerry Douglas on guitar, Jim Lauderdale on vocals/guitar, Mike Compton on mandolin, Dennis Crouch on bass, Stuart Duncan on violin and Jeff Taylor on accordion. The following date has just been confirmed: 8/24/09 - Malkin Bowl (Vancouver, BC) Elvis is also going to be pla

That's right now, but count on it, by late June or so, the northsiders will be looking to upgrade their rotation. I still think Peavy ends up with the Cubs before the trade deadline. Any word on who the Sox have offered in the proposed deal? I haven't seen any mention of names.
-
As a Sox fan, I'd love it, but I'm betting on Peavy asserting his no-trade clause for this one. After the tailspin the Sox have been in, why would he want to pitch for those guys? The Cubs will probably make another push for him during the season, and I think he'll take his chances on that and wait.

I will go on record to agree with this, and to say that I don't much like "Kingpin" to begin with. I've never understood all the love that song gets. When they play it live, it's my chance to go take a piss.
-
No flaming here, but I think this is a stretch. Lots of bands who never get played on the radio end songs abruptly.
-
Too much? Can you hear the violins playing in the background? Damn. I knew I shouldn't have cut the fart joke at the last minute.

I should add to my previous comments the following thoughts... For the most part (speaking for myself, anyway), those of us who aren't crazy about people singing loudly at shows don't ever do anything about it. We have learned to just deal with it and enjoy the show in spite of it. We don't ask people to quiet down, we usually don't even shoot them dirty looks. The extent of our expression of annoyance tends to be a roll of the eyes, maybe an exasperated sigh, followed by an attempt to ignore such people for the rest of the show. We do not infringe on others' good time, because we're not l

In other words, anyone who's looking for a concert experience different from your own should stay home? Please. A concert ticket is not a license to bug the fuck out of those around you. Have a good time, do what you want, but maintain some self-awareness and try not to make the event all about you. Have some basic respect for the people around you. If there's anyone who should stay home, it's the person who can't do that.
-
I suspect he didn't get an advance copy, because he thinks the last song is called "Everlasting."

Check my first post in this thread and you can probably guess. What's "a good time" for one person might not be for others. Though it's rare that someone can actually detract from my good time at a concert by singing, it has happened a few times, and the people involved probably felt much the same about what they were doing as you do. All I'm asking from people is a little consideration of their neighbors. If you're pretty sure your singing can't be heard, go for it and enjoy yourself. But if it's a quiet show, please refrain out of consideration for those around you. Dancing only bot

Sore subject.

I paid to hear the people on stage sing, not the people around me. Nobody's impressed that you know the words. At a loud rock show, I don't much care, but if I can hear you, you should pipe down.

Was Madden a pansy too, then? I like "Pardon The Interruption," but Kornheiser contributed nothing of interest to the MNF broadcasts.

Kudos to the Indians organization. I hope Lara makes it all the way back.

I really don't want that shirt. I ordered from Nonesuch.

Try again, in English this time? The lyrics on that album are some of the worst I've ever heard. Clich -

As I'm sure I've said countless times before, Sound of Lies is a terrific sounding album, but those lyrics ... -
I hope the rain let up for a while today.

Excellent news.

At places without seats, you have to deal several kinds of douchebaggery that seats mostly prevent. Give me a seat every time, even if I end up standing in front of it the whole night. Wilco are playing a general admission, no-seats-except-the-balcony show not far from here this summer, and I haven't bought tickets yet -- that's how much I hate general admission shows. Small clubs are an exception, but Wilco don't play those anymore.

Kenny G is a jam-an-icepick-through-my-eardrums band.

I find it much easier just to enjoy Wilco on ction's terms.

I'd forgotten all about Irving R. Levine. I looked him up just now and was sad to see that he died just a couple of months ago. -
