  1. caught em in seattle, LOVE that they're a quartet again. new dude fucking tears. he soars. he chars. etc. their encore was "offend maggie" (instrumental) > "holy night fever" > "my purple past" so i guess they must be changing their sets on this tour? i was sad to miss 'snoopy waves'.
  2. saw beck in august and it was just as boring as i'd expected. while he was once relevant, i knew he'd taken a turn for the worse (and http://www.lermanet.com/beck/ explains exactly why), but i never expected to see him just standing onstage, looking bored (or confused?), mindlessly droning thru half-assed (and sometimes half-performed) versions of his singles, while his (subpar) band did the bulk of his work for him. but that's neat that wilco were there. at least some talent was under that roof last night.
  3. When I wrote that, the date wasn't on wilcoworld -- now it is. Huh. They're listed on Ticketmaster and Livenation, too, so... could be interesting!
  4. Uh oh. Does this mean no Wilco for Toronto night 2? (OK, clearly it does. Shit.)

    I fear

Oh yeah! I need to reread the liners more often. I'm often surprised to see who played what on "A Ghost Is Born".
  6. IS that what I'm referring to above as the 'marching robots' music?

    I fear

I often read these comments saying that Nels overpowers SBS, "does every song need to end with a big Nels freakout" (particularly w/ "One Wing" being unleashed), and I just have to point out... there are really only 2 songs on SBS that end with a huge Nels solo (IG + SWTS). He does a very beautiful, tasteful solo in the middle of "Either Way", he does a solo that most people mistook for Jeff on YAMF, does another very sparse melody in "Patient With Me", and has a brief run in "Hate it Here" (which also has a Jeff solo). ...and that's it. Jeff does the solo on the title track, and the end of Wa
  8. what was that 'marching robots' type music that opened the 2006 shows (or at least the ones i saw)?
  9. Start planning your trips, folks. http://everestband.com/shows I'm delighted to see how many west coast Neil shows there are, not so thrilled about the opener.
  10. Neil's bass player supposedly mentioned to somebody on the summer Europe tour that they might be playing Vancouver in the fall, so it looks like we may be in luck... I wasn't planning on seeing Wilco again this year since I was at all five residency shows, but THIS would be worth a cross-country trek for. Neil's sets on this tour have been insane.
  11. this was also posted in one of the many threads as a correction to whats above: 1..V.....^.....V.....^.....V.....^.....V.....^...... e-------------(3)------(3)(2)(3)(3)----------------| B--------------0--------0--0--0--0-----3-----------| G--------------0--------0--0--0--0--0--4-----4--4--| D--------------0-----------0--0--0-----4-----4--4--| A--------------------------------------2-----------| E--3-----------------------2-/3--3-----------------| 2..V.....^.....V.....^.....V.....^.....V.....^...... e--------------------------------------------------| B--------------1-----------------1-----
  12. mentioned within the first 10 pages of peter straub's "lost boy lost girl" as well, i believe...
  13. "i am trying to break your heart" disc 2
  14. sorry., i was thinking of the loose fur version only!

  16. The lyrics that come with the album (ahem) confirm 'life'.
  17. I'm gonna stick this here too cuz I know how I hate coming across old threads w/ no resolution.. I gave this one a shot over here: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=34420
  18. howdy folks, i gave the live version a shot over here: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=34420 please let me know what you think... (hey, my first tab for this site, i believe!)
  19. Now that we have a confirmed source for the tuning, I figured I'd give it a try. It's a general version but I think it's fairly accurate if you can let your mind go beyond dashes and digits on a computer screen and just try to adopt that Tweedy shake to every note I've tabbed. I think there may be a little more going on in the chords of the verse, when he's even playing, so comments or fixes would be appreciated. Here's a start, at least... "I'M THE MAN WHO LOVES YOU" by Wilco This is based on any given live version circa 2003-2008. This is Jeff's part only, tuned to Open E (low E B E
  20. It's on the "War on War" single.
  21. I'm gonna bump this topic to hopefully open up some more discussion on the D tunings quoted by Tweedy (and to point out that in another thread, Tweedy was cited as using open E capo 1 for "Man Who Loves You", which is probably for the live version, w/ open D minor for the LP version?). Obviously Kamera, Radio Cure, and Pot Kettle Black are in "D" tunings -- does anyone have concrete reasons to apply a specific tuning to any of these? Is the F# an obvious burden on any of these, making it clearly DADAAD, or do any of them clearly need the F#, making it likely open D (DADF#AD) ?
  22. he was doing a 'walking' (well i guess 'running') motion with his fingers as he sang the line, and looked pretty amused/disgusted as he sang that entire verse. he acted 'hate it here' out a lot, too!
  23. FINALLY! It's clearly not in standard when played w/ Wilco, nice to have this confirmation. Considering they play it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, it shouldn't be too hard for this to get properly tabbed.. (I suppose I did just hear it 5 nights in a row, but the Residency Sickness is still lingering in my head and might impair my aural judgment...) Thanks for posting solid info from a legitimate source.
