It was pretty laid back. The main stage may have had a few folks lining up but not the second stage. This will sell out but there were lots of tickets to be had near face value on stub hub last year. The comparison to Solid Sound (I was at the second one) are not too off base. I saw the artists out and about a lot more at Solid Sound. Food was better at High Water, even without the fancy add on options. Drink options were better at Solid Sound. Little more things for kids at Solid Sound, my 10 year old was pretty bored at High Water.

I wanted to see him in ATL but couldn't make it. My friends who went thoroughly enjoyed the show. Didn't get into them until the last self-titled lp. I have that one and Napa Asylum and a couple of singles. Need to get those last few singles from this past year, which I think are downloadable from Drag City. Thee Oh Sees Ty Sic Alps Mikal Cronin King Tuff I'd say that's where my head's at nowadays.

I think there is a factual error with regards to AGIB recording. I was happy that I helped network their ATL show even though I can't go. My friend who located the house for them is psyched. Can't wait to hear the new lp. ...Funeral Singers and Roots and Crowns get played all the time. Did get to see them at the most awesome pitchfork '07 and hope to another day. Y'all enjoy the shows.

Saw them back when they did the Underground Garage tour about 6 years ago. They were great then. They did an awesome cover of Summertime (in honor of Porgy&Bess's connection to Charleston.) Got Argent's Hold Your Head High, too.They were out in the local dive bar after the show hanging out with everyone. 6 years is a long time when you start getting up to their ages, though.

heading to ATL in 2 weeks. bypassing A Place To Bury Strangers, as they are just opening, and think I'm hitting Abby Gogo, Theyer Serrano and Ponderosa and following it up with an Earltastic second night headlined by Mindspiders.

I think it would've been 1995 or 1996 on WXPN, or less likely WMMR. I'd never heard of Uncle Tupelo before, but had the Son Volt cd already, when I heard Box Full of Letters or I Must Be High. Next thing ya know I'm on Postcard and having dreams of Slobberbone and Marah playing the Superbowl halftime, no lie.

I guess kind of. They've done New Madrid tons of times. They did tons of covers at the Madison Square Gardens show NYE years ago. It's on Owl and Bear. They did a great Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy. I like the covers. Tweedy seems to do a fair bit of them solo, so I think he's a fan, too. I vote for some Rush, Spirit of the Radio or Tom Sawyer. I'm not even much of a Rush fan but I think Nels and Glenn could do it justice and Jeff could figure out a way to channel his inner Geddy Lee.

Savvy record execs that they are now, what with a bonus song on the lp that's not on the bonus cd, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an unreleased song or two on it so us obsessives will purchase it.

Well, I actually was thinking I wasn't going to be buying this lp. Boy, I was wrong. The single is even growing on me. Gotta go preorder now!

The video for "Own It" is a fun watch. Liked the song enough to buy the download from polyvinyl. Haven't heard the Deerhoof / Tweedy track yet. I'm saving it for a surprise to brighten up my shift at work tonight. It was only 2 bucks for the tracks as 320 mp3s and 5 bucks for the 45.

" There is a third version of Being There that was a European release but some made it here. It came out about 5-6 years ago. It's on Reprise and is not a gatefold. It says "Made in Germany" on the back. It also has the "mastered by Bob Ludwig" on the back but so does the gatefold rerelease of year or two ago. This lp came with a sticker on the shrink wrap that I no longer have, that said "cut from the original master tapes" and it sounds like a completely different mastering than the original or rerelease. It's a very lively sounding record, those hand claps and percussion sound "in the room
