  1. My life's in jeopardy Murdered in cold blood is what I'm gonna be I ain't been home since Friday night And now my wife is coming after me Does Adrian Belew count?
  2. Factory Belt is pretty complete. I have a boot somewhere of a UT show in Columbus, that might have been the closest they got. Kinda weird since they played the St. Louis/Chicago/Bloomington run so much that they never stopped off in Cincy. I would think for Graeters alone it would be worth booking at Bogart's.
  3. Yes to both of these! I remember reading somewhere that Jay put an effect on the tape of the synth track to get that sound on the record. And they never quite were able to emulate it perfectly live. The 02-03 versions of Laminated Cat For The Season are just about my favorite Wilco song.
  4. The whole show is available to download here: http://wilcoarchive.com/tweedy%2019990228/
  5. They might not be my favorite, but they live in that neighborhood.
  6. I like the solo/YHF era arrangement of Sunken Treasure a little more than the Being There one. I like the earlier live versions of Handshake Drugs, before AGIB came out. A lot of the AM songs sound better live to me particularly since Glenn has joined. I really love the YHF era version of Kamera as well.
  7. When, I'm asked directly I almost always do it if I have cash. I'm uncomfortable with giving panhandlers in traffic money, because for the reasons Atticus pointed out, it's not really safe and I don't want to encourage it. I give a little bit to the local homeless shelter each year, this thread makes me think it's time to do that again soon.
  8. I streamed the song Daisy Love on their bandcamp, it's pretty good. Sound reminded of the Byrds or those great indie bands who were on the Rainbow Quartz label about ten or so years ago. Hope they find someone that fits their sound. Tell them to hang around a vintage guitar store and grab the first person that checks out a Rickenbacker.
  9. Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.
  10. Really good work from Pitchfork: http://pitchfork.com/features/articles/9246-elliott-smith/
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3TPymOcnwY In the Ronald Jones era, that was all they needed.
  12. Yeah, he was a whiz on guitar, piano, bass and drums (Kotche has cited him a few times as one of his favorites, they were friends in the nineties).
  13. No, but I had read about them breaking and was super careful getting it out. Once I took it out of the book CD holder, I never put it back in and just left it in a blank CD case. --Mike
  14. Richard Bowden sat in on fiddle on the first four songs I believe.
  15. Looks like a tremendous set, hope there were tapers.
  16. It is indeed. Love Jeff's solo arrangement of it.
  17. Hearing parts of your story about your relationship to that song really made me re-contextualize it, and now I love it. I had been pretty lukewarm to it previously. When they opened with it on the Americanarama date I saw them play over the summer, it floored me.
  18. Yeah, a few months ago I found out they were still together when I read that Kim Deal left.
  19. I love the Jag Nels uses for Hummingbird. Here it is on the far right.
  20. From Wilco's facebook -- I Am Trying to Break Your Heart Art of Almost Shouldn't Be Ashamed Handshake Drugs At My Window Sad and Lonely Forget the Flowers War On War Impossible Germany Born Alone Heavy Metal Drummer I'm the Man Who Loves You Dawned On Me A Shot in the Arm
