Hahaha. Like you I had to listen to the opening track over and over again before I jumped to the rest of the record. Thankfully, it's just as good. This and the new Califone have been in constant rotation for me this fall. --Mike

Yeah, I was terrified my CD was warped the first time I listened to Ghost because it was so quiet. Then I almost gave myself tinnitus by having it cranked so loud when the guitars kicked in.

Also really love this version from Jeff and Jay's set at McCabe's Guitar Shop from 1995: http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/83. Quick aside, So out of Tune is the greatest. Have been able to revisit a lot of great shows quickly and easily that way. --Mike

A true shame since E hits heights close to his very best work -- Electro Shock, Daises of the Galaxy and most of Blinking Lights -- on it.

The Riverfront makes no mention of New Madrid, anyone remember when it was played in the set?

I think Nels probably still would been recruited. Nels was on Jeff's radar for awhile and sat in with Wilco in 2003 during one of the Aud Theatre shows. I think given the guitar heavy sound of AGIB, Jeff would have wanted another set of hands.

. Since Jay's death, I have probably listened to Summerteeth way more than any of their other records and this is the only one I still think about skipping.

Very sad to read this, Tracy. My love to you and yours.

PopTodd, did you get the new Harry RCA box? I downloaded the bonus track albums, and will probably end up purchasing the whole thing at some point down the line. It looks like an amazing set.

Reminded me of this article from the late great Stylus Magazine: http://stylusmagazine.com/articles/weekly_article/jim-orourke-fat-soulless-fuck.htm

Yeah, I remember downloading this several years ago. It sounds like a bunch of kids raised on San Francisco psych getting together and jamming around. Jefferson Airplane or first album Fairport Convention are the closest comps. The vocals are pretty amazing. I am pretty sure you can still find a downloadable copy through a few of the more active album share blogs. Don't know anything about the re-issue, but it would sound pretty amazing on vinyl. -
For future reference I am easily contactable at facebook.com/mpolak21 or mpolak21@gmail.com & don't mind keeping people updated.

And John Doe coming out for New World. Seems like another heartstopper.

Might be my favorite setlist of the tour thus far. Love, love Cars Can't Escape. -

Yeah, Wilco covered that in their very first concert. According to Wilcobase, they haven't done that one since the Summer Teeth tour. -
Seawall is an obvious favorite from the new record, since it namechecks my hometown, "God save the Queen of Charleston, West Virginia."

Bringing some people over to watch this on Demand, Tuesday. Very excited, have been waiting for this doc for years.

Right up there with "Meet on the Ledge" in my favorite songs of theirs, I was so happy when they went into it. Nels and Richard traded incredible solos. Hope a recording of it shows up in the near future.

It took me a few verses to realize he was singing Tangled Up In Blue and Hard Rain at the Cincy show. I felt like he did Duquense Whistle very well though.

This one http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/214 and the other night of the Filmore run are two of my favorites from that era. Very fun and amazing setlists. --Mike

ditty, yeah, sorry I missed you. I forgot to check VC before I got there and was having some connectivity problems w/my iPhone during the set. I was only able to swing one show this tour but I'm sure I'll be catching them in Cincy, Pittsburgh, DC, or Lord willing Morgantown again sometime soon.

Sadly no. MMJ had a steel guitar where Pat sat during the song but to my eyes/ears he was only playing tambourine/shakers. Nels and Glenn were with MMJ's drummer and played extra percussion for the song.

Isn't It a Pity was mind blowing. Jeff and John came out w/guitars. Mike sat in with the keyboard player and Nels, Mike and Pat played percussion. They went full Concert for Bangladesh on our asses. The opening few songs and the SBS tunes really clicked with me tonight. Sloth with Richard Thompson was an absolute blinder too. There were some complaints about the sound in the very front rows. Jeff even addressed it at one point people kept asking for them to turn it up. I was in the front of the middle, and it sounded fine to me. Nels was a little down in the mix and Mike was a little high,
