This is a special one for me, that was my first Wilco show.

Glad you liked it, it's used very well in The Big Lebowski. Semi-related, my personal favorite use of the Stones in a film is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcx0slK4FfE You'll never catch me because I'm fucking innocent.

Time to fix that:

I'm with Pop Todd. The Wire, Seinfeld, the first five seasons of West Wing, and Louie are all pretty high on my list as well. Then as an anglophile, I'd nominate Fawlty Towers, Python, The Thick of It, and the first series of I'm Alan Partridge. --Mike

I forgot Moonlight Mile, that song is perfect.

Sparky did.

I had You Can't Always Get What You Want as my number one choice, but was informed by Jack Black's character from High Fidelity of it's immediate disqualification because of it's involvement with the Big Chill. Here are ten more. Monkey Man She's a Rainbow No Expectations Ruby Tuesday Loving Cup I'm Waiting Let's Spend The Night Together Gimmie Shelter Wild Horses Sympathy For the Devil And five more after that, because they are so fucking good: Street Fighting Man Back Street Girl Mother's Little Helper Paint it, Black Happy.

Bands you discovered by accident or as openers

I saw them in 2004 at the Bonnaroo music festival. I was just out of high school and just getting into indie bands, I had heard their name but hadn't heard of note of their music. In two hours, they became my favorite band. --Mike -

You're very welcome guys. I have always had a real love for this era, probably because I'm a keyboard nerd and I love Leroy Bach's playing. It's interesting to hear the sound of the lineup evolve over this period and when the very end of the YHF tour shows (fall 2003) rolled around, they were really as good as they'd ever been. The best sounding boot/performance from this particular period is here: http://wilcoarchive.com/wilco%2020030904/. It's got a little bit of everything. Early versions of AGIB songs they were workshopping. Poor Places-Reservations-I am Trying To Break Your Heart-War on W

Then it's Leroy. Leroy sang the deeper (Jay) harmonies on the 01-03 tours. --Mike

On the NYE show? It could be Pat or Jim. --Mike

Here's some good (breaking) news about this situation: http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/188411/breaking-pussy-riot-to-be-freed-from-jail/. Hopefully this plays out. --Mike

Sorry, the Minus Fur show isn't on the Wilco archive. They played two shows on April 30th, 2003. A World Cafe gig and a full gig in New York. Owl has the World Cafe set. I'll see what I can do about getting that show in the right hands so it's included in the next update. --Mike

In 2003, Wilco backed Scott McCaughey for three shows in promotion of Down With Wilco, Jessy Green also played with them on violin. For the 4/29 show, Jim O'Rourke joined that lineup in the encore and they did like three or four songs together. Edit: I thought this was on Owl, it isn't yet. Will try to fix soon. --Mike

Thanks so much! I think I may have that boot lying around somewhere will have to track it down.

Yeah, I think the Minus 5 opened for Wilco on some of those dates. When Wilco opened for R.E.M. in 2003, Scott plays on a few of those encores as well. Jim O'Rourke also sat in with the six-piece a few times on the 2004 tour. I think he played the entire New Year's Eve 2004 show with them, but I could be misremembering. --Mike
