Poor Max. But I'd guess he'd have less of a problem playing with Tweedy than Farrar or Coomer would. --Mike -

My favorite t-shirt is a Georgia Bulldogs 2006 Sugar Bowl Championship t-shirt that a buddy of mine hijacked from their sidelines after West Virginia beat them late in the game. --Mike -
Hard to get much better than their run of early albums in the sixties. Great songwriting, great vocals, great arrangements. He will be missed. --Mike

The Meat book is incredible. I did feel like the end came on a little quick, but it was such a perfect final image. The main character's interaction with his best friend and the girl he liked were pretty note for note what my high school days were like. I have read Feels so Good and remember liking it, but I read it right after Dave Cullen's book about Columbine and that book sort of knocked everything I read at the same time of it out of my memory so I should revisit Feels so Good.

If you gave me all the songs on SBS and WTA and made me pick which ones are on which album I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it either. --Mike -
I saw them on this tour too and really liked it. I'd be a lot happier if Chris White was still touring in that incarnation with Blunstone and Argent, but it's a pretty good show. --Mike

Can't somebody be a shit their whole life and try to repair the damage? -
I am happy he did it, but I have those same hesitations you do. His waffling there has been pretty disappointing. What part Lou? I went to grad school in the twin cities but aside from those four years, I've been in WV all my life. As embarrassing as last night's election result was at least we didn't have a gay marriage ban passing on the book (though if that ever went up I have no doubt it would stick.). --Mike.

There was a pretty low voter turnout in the cities in WVa., so while I am surprised the felon got as many votes as he did, I suppose it could have been worse. It's a great state with a lot of great people, but particularly on social issues, I find myself on a completely different planet than most of them. --Mike

This was my introduction to the 33 1/3 series, one of my favorites. Pernice is an incredible writer. Let me know what you think of it. --Mike

I am glad they seem to doing interesting stuff and that they seem to be finding some peace with each other. As they all get up there in age, you'd hate to think of them going out hating each other regardless of who did what to Brian years ago. --Mike -
Hope I can track one of these down as a podcast or a YouTube vid, I'll have to check him out if he's ever in my neck of the woods.

Quiet isn't it, George Michael Dolenz?

This reminds me of an old Harrison quote about McCartney, "everytime he has a new album coming out, he floats the idea of being open to getting back together with us, so he gets more press." That seems to be exactly what James is doing. I wouldn't expect this to really happen. --Mike

What was/is your favorite decade for music?
mpolak21 replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, 65-74 is the golden period for me, I listen to stuff from every era but I find myself visiting that period the most and the 65-69 section of that more than anything else. --Mike -

I know, right? What an incredible piece of music. -
My Dad and I saw him in North Carolina a few years ago, and I agree, he still has some amazing vocal moments. The Band's harmonies standup with anyone's, Levon, Danko and of course Richard Manuel could sing the fucking phonebook. --Mike

I love this one. I have been playing "Off the Wall" the lead single a lot lately.

Adele is the number #6 selling UK album of all time...really???
mpolak21 replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, she's very big with the women in my life as well so I've heard those records a lot. I find her completely inoffensive, I enjoy some of her tracks. I'd rather listen to Dusty in Memphis personally, but I can totally see the appeal. Outselling Dark Side is a huge accomplishment in the piracy era. --Mike -
Holy shit that's great! Thanks so much! --Mike

He's had a few throat cancer scares over the past years. I'm amazed he's still able to tour as well he has. A few months ago I was watching an old SCTV episode and Levon was the musical guest:

Player safety is really important and these reports are quite damning. This oughta put an end to bounties, and even though I find the penalties a little excessive, Goddell certainly for all his flaws knows how to get people's attention. Gregg "The Extra G is For Genius" Williams and Sean Payton picked the wrong climate to try to do this in. --Mike -
