  1. exactly my thoughts when I saw the cover... RS is a very sad shell of what it used to be..
  2. thanks everyone for the advice, and for re-assuring me that I'm not a complete klutz.. or maybe we all are?!?! as I said, I've written to nonsuch and the publishers, so I'll wait a few days or so and then follow up some of the other ideas you've given.. thanks
  3. My wife bought me The Wilco Book not long ago, and I just got 'round to (try to) listen to the cd that came with it. I tried pushing the button of the clip holding the cd, I tried easing it out slowly, but it's snapped! I've emailed nonsuch and the publishers, but haven't heard anything back yet. I know I could download the music, but considering how expensive it was, it would be nice to have the real thing.... ... any ideas?
  4. I seem to remember having trouble playing my 'Ghost' bonus cd. I e-mailed nonsuch about it, and it was something to do with my settings in quicktime. I'm at work at the moment and can't access my old e-mails (not even sure if I still have it...). ermmm... not much use am I? (at least you're not alone)
  5. there aren't many people I'd want to see 2 nights on the trot (I used to do it for The Who...when Keith was around..), but chances of doing this (especially outside of america) don't come around very often, so ... some things just have to be done!!
  6. omg!! Muzzle is such an amazing song/piece of music/work of art.. the lyrics bring tears to my eyes: And dogs laugh, some say they're barking I don't think they're mean Some people get so frightened Of the fences in between And the sun gets passed from tree to tree Silently, and back to me With the breeze blown through Pushed up against the sea Finally back to me and Nels' solo on that video, it's tooo good, ta very muchly
  7. thanks to this site, I've got tickets for London... I've subscribed to the Wilco mailing list, thinking I might be alerted to shows like this, and maybe even have a chance to any pre-sales. I realise that pre-sales aren't particularly necessary in London, so long as you actually know about the shows, and when tickets go on sale, but there's been next to no info on these shows, and the best tickets for the Empire (the first balcony... the standing (GA) tickets are good if you're right up at the front, otherwise, due to the low stage, it's almost impossible to see anything on the 'floor') seem
  8. maybe they'll be back later in the year. These few shows tie in with the release of the album, so maybe this is just a 'promo' type jaunt, so they can return after the album has made the impact it should/might have.... maybe... I got to work this morning, and someone was playing in the distance (but quite loudly) DorisDay singing Que Sera Sera... what an apt start to the day I thought...
  9. errrmm... quite small... why?
  10. but the Shepherd's Bush Empire is one of the smallest, intimate gigs in London. Unless you're holding out for a 'living-room' show, you'll be lucky to get anywhere smaller..
  11. the Paradiso (with it being in Holland like... see Pulp Fiction... ) used to have a stall selling dope and ready made joints!! Not sure if it still does, but you're never far from a 'coffee shop' in the low lands...
  12. The Bataclan is an old dance hall, about 1,000 - 1,500 capactiy (with dodgy electrics about 25 years ago.. ). The Paradiso is an old converted church with a lovely stained-glass window behind the stage, about 2,000 capacity (I think). Shepherds Bush Empire is an old BBC theatre with 3 balconies, about 2,500 capacity, lovely venue... I want to go them all!!!
  13. my favourite venue in London... Shepherds Bush, Empire!! Paris, Bataclan (I've played there!!!)... Ghent, Amsterdam, Barcelona... what an idylic few days that could be ......
  14. depends on the guitarist usually... Freebird definitely sucks....
  15. are they? Almost never hear them on the radio, hardly ever get written about in any music mags/papers..? They were the best thing on at Glastonbury that year, as we were leaving, one of the guys on the gate was randomly asking the punters who they enjoyed the most, I answered "Wilco of course, they're actually the best band in the world.."... I don't think he believed me ..
  16. Nothing yet on the rumours front. Last time they played to a mostly empty field as they played at midday??? The time they played before, they came on the 'other' stage mid afternoon, Jeff said something like hello motherf**kers, and proceeded to become my favourite band ever since that afternoon. I think they need a little help from the radio over here if the festivals are going to be any use in getting them more known... but I'm happy the way things are.. I'd go to All Tomorrow's Parties, but there's only the larger, more expensive appartments left.... will they really come all the way to Eng
  17. on&on&on is my favourite so far... .. why do so many people dislike it so much?
  18. i think some of the compilations are quite a good start. There's sooooo much to choose from. Do you like instrumental stuff? guitar? sax? keyboards? modern? traditional? vocal? If you have a lending library that has cd's, that's a perfect way to find out what you like? Also, some of the 100 (or however many) best albums lists aren't a bad way to get some ideas... Django Rheinhardt, John Coltrane, some Count Basie... some of my 'likes'

    Roadcase updated

I'm having trouble listening to the show, it's as if it's running at double speed...... not playing fast, but like when a cd starts skipping bits, is it just me?
  20. reminds me of when I went to see Keith Richards a few years ago, and I said it was the best Stones show I'd been to in years. Dave Gilmour, sounds like he's doing the better Floyd shows..
  21. Very happy for you Wilco fans in London, Ontario ... but my heart skipped a little when I recieved the e-mail saying new shows, then I saw London and was very happy for a nanosecond, before I saw Ontario ... ..... here's hoping for a trip to the uk soon, (or maybe just Europe, give me an excuse to getoutahere for a weekend..)
