  1. .... oh I get it, it's my name isn't it?.... never thought of that before...
  2. The second show is now up on the Wilco site. Not sure what quality it is, but it sounds amazing to me. I've 'captured' (?) it in a rather long winded way. I play it, and record it externally in real time, on a digital recording thingy I've got, then replay it, recording it back on to my pc on to a software package I have called 'Magix' where I can edit it, name the tracks, put track markers etc. I know it's a bit of a palarva, but it seems to retain the quality. I have no idea how to post it anywhere, but if anyone wants to PM me I can burn a cd. As I said in the original Shepherds Bush setlis
  3. I'd like to know this too, especially the secong night. The Wilco site says it's been archived, and will be up soon. Maybe we just need to be patient...?
  4. It's not really a defense at all, as I (especially 'I') don't feel the need to defend Jeff's motives, especially as we have no clue as to what they might be. I'm just explaining how I see a difference. If the song had been written especially for the car ad, that might be different.... maybe he did(!), but for now, all of this is nothing more than speculating. Maybe you could make more use of your time by writing to the management and asking why?.... ...you never know.
  5. all of those quotes relate to how Jeff wants his music to be sold, which I think is different to how it might be used to sell something else. His music, the cd's, the shows, are still the same as they were...
  6. took the words out of my mouth.... 'brainwashed'!!... at a wild guess, you live in either america (probably) or the uk... just a guess. Now how do you manage to live your life without compromising your beliefs or wishes. It's capitalism, and there's no escape any more. I have no problem with anyone feeling a little pissed off that one of their idols doesn't live such an immaculate existence as they would wish, but you know, we all have a choice. None of us know the reasons for the song being used in the commercial, and I think it's one of the curses of our unceasing need to know everything ab
  7. none of this seems to work with the UK versions... unless I'm missing something..
  8. I'm Always In Love, aaaand On & On & On!..... deadly jealous, sounds wonderful. I'd have paid good money just to see the last encore...
  9. Jeff just called me, and asked me to pass a message on....... "And if the whole world
  10. slightly off-topic... but I though it was quite funny when Pete Townshend pointed out that it might be a little hypocritical for Tom Waits to complain about someone trying to sound like him, when he's made a career out of trying to sound like Louis Armstrong.... ... and I think Pete is a fan of Tom. There's even a track on the last Who album where Pete seems to be trying to sound like Tom.... maybe a little ironically??
  11. I think, to accuse a band that gives albums away before they're released, permits gigs to be recorded, webcasts for free shows on a regular basis, of selling out, is one of the most 'selfish', narrow minded things I've heard in a while....
  12. coming out of Misunderstood as well!
  13. I went to see The Who straight after the 2 nights of Wilco at the Empire. I love The Who, and they were as good as could be expected.... but it was definitely an anti-climax....
  14. Oh, it's you! Well done... have to look into those Band Of Horses, mmmm better than Wilco you say?... my comment ("us Brits") wasn't aimed at you, it was more a comment on the suggestion that 'us Brits' are all the same, but then I take comments like that way too seriously sometimes...
  15. I know... 'us Brits' .. what are we like? but yeah, he needs a thesaurus of some kind...
  16. that must've been me... thanks to whoever corrected it....
  17. It was like a new arrangement. It was quite slow, started with Jeff solo, but the parts where it built up weren't like on Being There, it was kind of... beautiful. It was one of those moments when you were just glad to be where you were, the audience knew it, and there was a definite 'connection', I was welling up!
  18. Opening with Sunken Treasure was breathtaking. Nels played lap steel..... you could have heard a pin drop, it was beautiful, and what it meant was that anything after that was going have such an impact. It completely set the mood for the evening, Nels was already grinning by the end of the first song. Handshake Drugs and Shot In The Arm were blinding, they were playing like a band from another planet!! The crowd and the band were so into it, A couple less tunes from SBS than the first night. The first night (set-wise) seemed to be a little more audience friendly (Late Greats, Muzzle, What Lig
  19. that's quite possibly libellous (or is it slanderous, or both).. anyway, can't stop now... off to my second night at the Empire ......I probably won't get a detailed set-list...
  20. we're too interested in enjoying the gig...
