Dermot O'Leary is kind of embarrassing really. The interview was painful... "why don't you call it the Tweedy fest...? "go on call it the Tweedy fest..."... "It's obviously a better name.. the Tweedy fest"... stfu! "did you have Hold Steady on?" why? why the Hold Steady? is it because you like them? painful... sounded like Jeff was doing a good job of being polite and does he know the difference between Wilco and Jeff Tweedy? He announced Jeff's performances as being by Wilco... which one's Pink? twat

said the same things about his hat AND the Shepherds Bush incident... his head in a shadow all evening...? is he starting to get paranoid about the possibility of a tiny bald patch on his head? ... and THAT incident... yes, we either don't care anymore, or we don't know what you're talking about (which was the case for the 2 people I was with.. .so I had to explain why he was apologising..) never heard so many new songs from the latest album, which was a change. The shows seems to be very based around songs where Nels shines... Wiclo, featuring Nels Cline on guitar ...? pretty amazing sho -
I know he says he wants to talk less to play more songs, but when he does loosen up, he's very funny and it makes such a difference. Probably more than he realises. A friend of mine went to see them last night (Bristol) for his first time, and he said it was great, but not much interaction. I think for newcomers it's even more 'important' to talk a bit a great example of when he's more relaxed:

troxy... one of Wilco's best shows for me Royal Festival Hall too
-
for all of Wilco's good intentions, I've never received any information from Wilco's website, even though I keep on registering.. so if it's a gig with reserved seats (like the Royal Festival Hall), all the good seats are gone before I know they've even been on sale. I get more information from co-Wilco fans on 'efestivals' than I do from Wilco not sure what this might have to do with Sandbag...

cute or cheesy or not, Jeff's playing is great!

the best ones often are... fantastic picture.. I love the pattern in the drop... the beauty in the detail of nature, framing Jeff like that (and I don't think the luck/randomness takes away from your abilities... ) -

that's amazing.. is the effect caused by a random drop of rain? -
I think the raised seats (the balcony) are reserved. It's not like a regular balcony where you feel detached from the show. Plus, the stage is quite low, so if you're standing downstairs, unless you're very near the front, you're lucky to see any more than the head and shoulders of the band (or less if you're not tall). I'll be trying for one night upstairs, and the other standing

blimey, they're a 'mainstream rock band' now

I'd never picked up on that lyric before, ta....

as I said, the quality was great. Maybe it was just the position of my seat. But overall, I thought it was overly 'heavy'... and I like heavy
-
what the.....?
-
amazing, as ever..... but!!!......... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought it was too loud some of the 'heavy' bits, where Nils and Jeff go off into one, were painful. I've always thought it was amazing how Wilco manage to create the dynamics, without overbearing levels of sound. We were sitting about half-way back, slightly to the side, in direct line of the pa, and it was just too loud. Even the quiter songs were really loud too. As that review says, it's a credit to the system that it never even got close to distorting, and Jeffs voacals sounded fantastic (and Glenns

Jeff Tweedy - Union Chapel, London 30-June-10

I had no problem at all with the pa, the quality was about as perfect as I could have hoped for really. A solo show is a good reminder of how great Jeff's voice is, and how good the songs are. I'd only been back from Glastonbury for a couple of days (whch usually takes a few days to 'get over'), where 'no rules' is the only rule, so it was odd to take normality back in... ie, no (alcoholic) drinks in the venue. Not that I was intending to get rat-arsed for the show, far from it, but it's nice to have a beer while you're watching. I wondered whether it was deliberate that he started with So -
yes, Festival Hall has sold out with no advertising and months still to go!!... is something happening?
-
They're not doing the super long, with acoustic mid-section, shows any more..??? Is it permanent? I was hoping for a long show at the Festival Hall.....
-
the band I'm in played the Maroquinerie once. It was almost sold out, a fantastic place to play, but an absolute rip off. By the time we'd paid for the venue (!), and commissions, and travel costs (which were minimal), we ended up losing money.... in fact, Paris has always been a bastard to play. Some weird politics between agents, or some such, has meant we never made any money in Paris. Is the New Morning still going? A couple of nights there would suit Wilco, I would have thought (PS... aside from the politics, we've had some of our best shows ever in Paris, and France in general. )
-
that's the same place I found out from... (efestivals?).. they're doing Non Such's job for them... I haven't recieved an email yet, and I subscribed too
-
soooo... let's see the pre-sale tickets on Sandbag (the ones at the front) were sold out before the link was up and running (how did that happen?). Then there's priority for members (of the South Bank) for 2 or 3 days, meaning the moment they're available to the general public all the best seats have already gone..?!!? a bit annoying really...
-
seen some of my favourite shows at the Festival Hall, and I can honestly say that I don't think the sound has ever been less than perfect now I think about it, I don't think I've ever been upstairs though
-
me too... slightly disappointed about it being a seated venue... they don't seem to bring the best out of Jeff
-
??? that's mad... how's anyone supposd to know that? I googled 'sandbag tickets'... obviously not good enough still, I'm sure there'll be good seats left on the 5th
