  1. 1. That refers to votes cast by legislators, not by individual voters 2. If all you're interested in doing here is continuing your Texas-bashing, please do so in some other thread. You are free to start your own "Texans are morons" thread anytime you please.
  2. what site is that (the TRUTH) at again?
  3. absolutely correct. fixed it (although I don't think anyone can go re-vote...)
  4. giant douche or turd sandwich?
  5. I've always been a little disappointed that they don't seem to vary their performances of some songs much at all. I've also always been a little thankful that they don't seem to vary their performances of some songs much at all. I've had this same personality disorder over R.E.M. as well.
  6. yesterday morning I went over to the mcdonald's down the street to get the wife and I some quick b-fast. The three parties waiting in front of me spoke spanish. The two parties behind me spoke spanish. The person who took my order spoke spanish. The person who fixed our food in back spoke spanish. The person who handed my food to the person who took my order spoke spanish. The person manning the drive-through and the lady in the car she helped spoke spanish. that's all. edit: oh, and I would have tried to speak spanish but I was worried that I'd sound funny, since I mostly spoke it
  7. next week we learn that one of the students was a pre-op tranny. I won't spoil the party...
  8. my best guess for an answer to that question is that our government is so bloated and influenced by special interest that for many people the thought of the government taking on any additional responsibility or task is frightening. Until we stop the ridiculous amount of campaign spending and practices and special interest influence, most of the issues you mention sadly will not change much, regardless of who wins our '08 election. having said all that, I shall still try and remain optimistic for change.
  9. Happy birthday, Wendy. Hope it's a good one.
  10. weren't you the one saying this thread should be closed?
  11. Paul would most likely want to get rid of the funding of any institution which (the funding, not the institution necessarily) can not be justified via one of the strictly enumerated powers of congress. in other words he would attempt to un-do many years of the supreme court's wrangling of the interstate commerce clause... (this is just a guess, I haven't had time to read his platform, but it is fantastic to see someone speaking from his mind rather than from memorized agenda items during those debates)
  12. GOD: Arthur! Arthur, King of the Britons! Oh, don't grovel! [singing stops] One thing I can't stand, it's people groveling. ARTHUR: Sorry. [boom] GOD: And don't apologize. Every time I try to talk to someone it's 'sorry this' and 'forgive me that' and 'I'm not worthy'. [boom] What are you doing now?! ARTHUR: I'm averting my eyes, O Lord. GOD: Well, don't. It's like those miserable Psalms-- they're so depressing. Now, knock it off! ARTHUR: Yes, Lord. GOD: Right! Arthur, King of the Britons, your Knights of the Round Table shall have a task to make them
  13. I'm glad I read your post before posting my pic :phew
  14. I'm just glad I finally got to hear some tunes from it from the original lineup this year one of my favorite live music moments evah (that was for jenlysistrataffootballmaster) was watching J in Dallas solo. I forget which tune it was, but he was moving along the song on his acoustic until the solo came, at which point he clicked on the fuzz factory, and several people in the audience had near-heartattacks. good times.
  15. I just saw that on yahoo. I was going to make fun and then I felt bad for the dog, and for ellen. I attribute this personal growth moment to the thread about algorenobeloscarreligionandwhatnot.
  16. this would be a great time to think up things that President Bush and the Dalai Lama might say to one another
