  1. I can't think of anything that would help the country's spirit and sense of national unity more than a giant clusterfuck litigation over what happened in Iraq. That will help solve a lot of our pressing problems with poverty, debt, terrorism and civil rights and will probably also get the media back to reporting true news rather than a 24/7 pundit porno.
  2. Interesting. My mom's family lived on a farm here in Texas. Later in his life, my maternal grandfather (who is long dead) ran for land commissioner. He and all of his friends were die-hard democrats. They would have sooner dressed in drag than vote for a republican. They also used the "n" word and had zero interest in racial or gender equality, and I'm pretty sure they would have shot a homosexual had one ever dared to walk onto their property. that all shifted at some point before I was old enough to have any interest in politics. My mom is now a Fox news watching die hard conservat
  3. 2015 will be the year of the Ball Bearings
  4. one of my favorites on The Whole Love. But it has to be listened to along with Dawned on Me. Just a perfect pairing. Sunloathe and Shake It Off are the 2 Wilco songs that baffle me the most about Wilco fans.
  5. It's the characters from the books updated to current date and filling in some holes. If you know what I mean.
  6. We finished both seasons of Hannibal in about 2 weeks. Fantastic.
  7. the Creed guy thing is sad. I loathe that band like dental surgery but he is clearly not well.
  8. this is the kind of thing that I find really frustrating. There is never a time, place or situation where I'm justified in damaging other people's property or putting innocent people in fear for their safety because of horrible things done to someone else of my race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or preference for Wilco era. nobody caused anyone in Ferguson to go out into the streets to terrorize business owners and residents. that's just crap.
  9. I understand your points but I just feel like very few people in this argument are empathizing with the perspective of a police officer (not the officer in the Ferguson case, just the police in general) I've met some real asshole police officers in my lifetime but I've also met some fantastic human beings in that job. Most of these men and women are under a lot of stress in a very difficult job. Looking at all the commentary on social media it's clear that a large segment of our population has a bias against police--assuming that most of them are racist and power-mad. I don't think it
  10. I'm more concerned about my inability to embed a URL represented by text anymore.
  11. Ferguson grand jury decision made.
  12. The booklet is enjoyable and I understand being a completist, but for the typical via chicago fan, I doubt there are any surprises in this bunch.
  13. Well, it's the honest thing to do. I'm sure there won't be any problems.
  14. I'm curious as to how a criminal background check is going to be implemented for someone who entered the country illegally, probably has no documentation of his/her true identity (or any way of demonstrating that he or she has been consistently using that identity since being in the country) and has no US identification. Are we going to fingerprint every applicant and run those through all our databases? (I'm honestly asking, this isn't a usual political thread passive-aggressive-I-already-know-the-answer-to-my-sarcastic-question post)
  15. this guy is worse than the worst drunken idiot I've ever endured at a Wilco/Tweedy performance.
  16. I would add Gone Girl and Birdman to my list now. Excited for: -Foxcatcher -The Theory of Everything -Imitation Game
  17. saw Birdman last night. holy crap what an experience.
  18. I want Clara to know that I'm here for her if she needs any comforting.
