  1. Never divorced, but read your post and just wanted to say "best of luck." Can't be easy to go through, even if you know it's for the best in the long run. Good thing is, there's always someone on VC to make fun of you or your thoughts, or to just bs about all things wilco. so stick around.
  2. on the ipod. I like the intro guitar riff, kinda catchy... very billy corgan. (ducks)
  3. I've been writing lyrics, music and various unstable combinations of both for about 15-20 years now. Lately just haven't had the time needed to devote to it. I find writing lyrics alone or music alone to be fairly effortless, but am sorely lacking in the ability to merge the two. Which is what really makes me admire sometime like Jeff who can create such perfect lyric-lines over his melodies...
  4. who/what in the hell is "Bright Eyes"? From the tone of many of the posts in this thread, I take it I should feel lucky to have to ask such a question? --Neil
  5. hmm. right, because in the 10 years I've been practicing law, I've NEVER seen someone make false allegations in a pleading.
  6. or real estate. or jay bennett and nels cline.
  7. I've never heard them. What would be a good starter?

    blisters!

well John Daly lives on diet coke. and look at that physique.
  9. I enjoyed his first album, went to see him in Dallas once. It was a pretty good show, but after awhile the songs just seemed duplicative. I had put him away into the "hoped would be a new great thing but fizzled..." category. Any reason I should re-assess?
  10. I'm trying to put together a book(personal) of lyrics/tabs/notes for Tweedy-related songs, and was wondering what you guys have found to be a good blank slate for putting together tabs. I have used word and wordperfect, with a courier font, etc., but I'm sure there's some freeware out there or something that makes it easier. Any suggestions? Thanks, Neil
  11. I was just going off Jeff's guitar from some live shows I've heard, where he uses the 1-2 hammer...
  12. This looks fantastic. Unfortunately it's not showing in Houston. Anyone know a site where one could find out when/if it might be coming to specific areas? thanks, Neil
  13. I always played it: ---------- -------1-- -------0-- --1h2----- -(3)------ -----------

    blisters!

Just googled "the blisters tweedy" (just googling "the blisters" returned some unsettling links) to get some more info, and the following link came up: NNDB Click on the "unknown detox facility" link, and look at some of the "known for" entries. Some are fairly laugh-inducing...
  15. Congrats on the sobriety and transition. It really is a gift that wilco's music can be enjoyed in so many ways, by so many people, under so many different conditions. There really is something to it...
  16. Question to all: What resource or resources do you all typically consult when determining the release date of many of these albums (e.g. JWH coming out around St. Peppers, etc.), as well as the participants (from session players to producers, engineers, etc). Are there some definitive sites with reliable information, or do you generally just cull the info from several different sources? --Neil
  17. Let's see, I'm 35. Attorney (litigator), small firm. No ambulance chasing Married, no kids yet. Play guitar pretty much every other day (though all the electric stuff has been closeted until space (and marital harmony) provides; Discovered Wilco from a friend of mine in Dallas (when I lived there) who was a huge Wilco fan. He took me to a show of theirs in Dallas, which blew me away, although I knew nothing of their music, so some of it was hard to digest on first listen. First album bought was Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Couldn't dive into it at first. Then I bought Summerteeth,
  18. When I was a kid, my dad played the ballad of frankie lee and judas priest to me. Before playing it he described to me how this song had always puzzled him, and told me that if I ever figured it out to let him know. I've been listening to it now for about 25 years or so, and still enjoy it every single listen. as to "figuring it out," as with any Bob Dylan song, well, best of luck with a definitive and unassailable interpretation. The rest of the album doesn't knock me over. I think it has its place in the catalogue, but like several have already mentioned in this thread, I wouldn't stum
  19. Jamail's within his rights on this one. Since objections are limited to "objection, leading," "objection, form" and "objection, nonresponsive," in Texas, and it is not clear whether the other attorney is representing a party or not. That's a pretty good one. Depositions can be loads of fun, especially when the party being deposed is a total a-hole. thanks for the post. --Neil
  20. All the ones I've done have been for free. If you want to pay a premium I think you can get the message sent quicker (so far after I've created a ring tone it's taken somewhere between 30-45 minutes for the message to hit my phone containing the ring tone). You don't have to hook anything up because they send the ring tone directly to your phone as a text message (at least in my case). If you'll go to the site and enter all the info about your phone or PDA, it will probably tell you your options. --N
