  1. Apparently, it's a big cave. With lots of people. Who disagree with you. Surprised?
  2. I don't know if I can do it. I know the instant the doubt creeps in, it takes over like a spider monkey. But the thought of the next 1300 pages is really scaring me. I mean, there's an index of characters in the back for crying out loud.
  3. My brain cannot comprehend the awesomeness of this news.
  4. I am 100 pages into War and Peace. Yes, that War and Peace. I made a promise to myself that I would dedicate this month to that book. I love Tolstoy so much, but I am bit worried that this month is going to suck. So far, Anna Karenina slays it.
  5. Califone no longer making music makes me sad on many levels.
  6. This looks pretty effing cool. Is it only available on iTunes, though? I don't do iTunes.
  7. Actually, when he busted into it, I had no idea that it was the first time he had ever played it. I was just psyched to hear it. And frankly, I dont remember the hard core fans there going crazy. I seem to remember no one around me having any idea what it was. My shit eating grin hinted that it was something cool though. Unless I am remembering wrong, I think this was when he played two shows at MSG? And at the other show he encored with Something and dedicated it to George. Although maybe that was in 2001? I am getting my years mixed up now. Dylan often pulls out some beauties when
  8. Yeah, I was there, man. One of the best moments of my music life. Were you there too?
  9. Bad assumption. I love that tune to pieces. That song epitomizes the basement tapes for me -- a bunch of guys together having fun. And me having fun with them. And that line really does knock me flat. I love how he sings it.
  10. Plus, this one line, which knocks me flat every time: It's a one-track town, just brown, and a breeze, too
  11. Yeah, I didnt realize that AT&T was sponsoring and covering the whole festival. I am an idiot. I agree that, if this was intentional (which it wasn't), it would have been messed up.
  12. I didnt read the article all that carefully, but I dont think I have a problem with AT&T censoring it. Even if it wasn't an accident. It's their website, and I dont have a problem with them making a decision that they dont want to appear to be throwing their hat in the ring on either side when it comes to politics. I don't see this as "they're in bed with the Bushies" as much as "we have a business to run and music is good publicity for us, but politics isn't." I know they apologized and said it was unintentional, but I dont think this is that big of a deal even if it was intentional
  13. justin would get along really well with TheMaker.
  14. The only thing I can think is that people believe that larger themes like "relevance" and "influence" help to validate their opinions of a band. The more influential or relevant a band is, the more that their subjective opinion is proven to be objectively correct. Which is preposterous.
  15. It was actually pretty funny. I am sitting there stretching out my old and aching hamstrings and I turn to my left and there she is. Sitting on her fanny doing the same. So now, I am sitting there thinking "ok, so I am stretching next to Julianne Moore - this is so bizarre." She was actually much more petite than I would have expected. But she was beautiful. I mean, virtually perfect. With no make-up, at the gym on a Sunday am. Like an angel from above.
  16. I was behind Q-tip in line at the Energy Kitchen in my neighborhood a few months ago. Stretched on a mat at the gym next to Julianne Moore. Stood behind Juwan Howard at the copy machine in the undergrad library at UMich back in 95 or so. No idea what he was doing there. Bumped into Elvis Costello and Dianna Krall in the lobby of the New York City Center after a Dylan concert there a few months ago.
  17. Who gives a shit about influencing the music world. They influence my music world. That's all I care about.
  18. I heard he has a class rating of .57687 over the past few weeks. I always get mixed up though, bobbonerd, is that all-star level?
  19. Sad to say it, but I feel the same way.
  20. I know, I know. I am on a Squeeze kick. Leave me be. I Think I'm Go Go (Difford/Tilbrook) Funny words I cannot read Trams and boats where Strauss is street Milky way and far out looks On your bike and Anne Frank books Down the disco it's clockworktime Where's the humour where am I This world's got smaller I'm shaking lots of hands Saying lots of things That no one understands You can shake my tree But you won't get me Where am I I think I'm go go, go go, go go Liquor store and rodeos P I X and rock and roll The freckled face the thin and fat The drive-in films and
  21. I never thought I would say this but I now miss jnickerson.
  22. I am still waiting for specific examples of where/how/when Ryan Adams rips off GP.
  23. Congratulations Tom Glavine. Consummate pro. Do people around these parts agree with the generally held belief that Glavine will be the last to 300? I find that hard to believe, but I suppose it's true that pitchers don't win 20 any more.
  24. I'd be willing to bet that most meat eaters (me included) would give up meat forever if they spent 5 minutes in a slaughterhouse. The fact that it comes celophane wrapped in the supermarket, as if it fell out of the sky like that, makes it so much easier to love.
