  1. Yeah. This new one struck me as a bit further along on the Americana spectrum than KOA (which had its share of rockers). Wish I had a copy of it. Also, beware of my first impressions. They aren't very reliable.
  2. This is pretty amusing given the back and forth here. NPR's Soundcheck did a debate of classic Dylan vs. new Dylan: http://www.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/episo...segments/129880
  3. No, you aren't. I was at yesterday's game. Let's just say that my son is 8 months old and I still have time to not raise him as a Mets fan.
  4. This one, LouieB, this one. JWH is one of my favorites. You know, for a guy who said he is somewhat speechless a few posts back, you sure have a lot to say.
  5. I thought it was lightweight and uninspired after the first few listens, but that transformed into understated and reserved beauty. Like a nicely aged and perfectly balanced Burgundy. I guess it's a fine line. But I am safely on the other side of the line. ETA: that's not to say that it's on par with TOOM or LT. But once I realized it wasn't either of those, I got comfortable with what it is. And that's good enough for me.
  6. It's been reworked. I have a buddy that is a music writer/critic and he got an advanced copy of the album. I heard the first few songs last week. The T Bone Burnett influences are everywhere. Think King of America, Part II.
  7. GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE Edit:
  8. bobbob, get your ass on a plane and meet me at CitiField. I am scheming to get out of work here. We can get two tickets.
  9. For someone with a lot of opinions, you sure don't have that many facts.
  10. "If more republicans in Congress were like Arlen Specter..." = "If more republicans in Congress were democrats..."
  11. I apologize! This sounds like shuffling blues to me with some accordian thrown in at spots. Not trying to re-open this silly debate. I don't care what boxes people want to put this music (or any others) into. I just like it. I put it in that box.
  12. Took 4-5 listens for it to click with me. I had to readjust my brain first. Since I went against my better judgment and read all those moronic reviews about how this is like Time Out of Mind, etc. It's nothing like Time Out of Mind. It just wasnt what I expected or wanted. But once I surrendered to it, it started to make sense. It may not be as good as TOOM/LT, but the band is locked in, and it's got an real understated beauty to it. I don't hear zydeco here, JossAck. I'm with solace.
  13. I am not worried, but Matt Drudge is certainly doing everything in his power to change that. 20 red headlines yesterday? Is he trying to create a panic? Asshole.
  14. I wouldn't go so far as to say that 45 is robbery, but 45 is definitely more than I have ever paid to see Wilco, isadorah. ETA: and when I say definitely, I mean, "i think"
  15. Speaking of Pujols, I am getting to the point where I am just about ready to say that he is the best hitter I have ever seen.
  16. Yeah, my point was that I think the Cards will find the cash to keep him. I didn't mean to suggest that he'd stay for a hometown discount.
  17. My biggest problem with this new album is that I spent the run-up to the leak getting excited by listening to Tell Tale Signs. And TTS is fu(king amazing. This new album isn't. I need some distance from TTS now to develop a real opinion.
  18. I have a hard time imagining that the Cards don't have enough money to give Pujols what he wants. I understand that they are on a different level than the NY/Boston/LA markets, but the Cards are not cash poor. And that team cannot lose him. Pujols is not going anywhere.
  19. I am bumping this to profess my love of the new Bill Callahan album. Beautiful.
  20. At the risk of stating the obvious, this album cannot leak/stream soon enough.
  21. Far be it from me to defend Ticketmaster, but I find it pretty convenient to be able to click on a website at 12:00:20, from my workplace, no less, and snag two tickets to see Wilco in Brooklyn. I used to have to skip school and wait in line for hours to get tickets to see concerts. In the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways, too.
  22. I can't wait for the inevitable articles grading each team's performance at the draft before a single player chosen takes the field. It's my favorite part of the NFL Draft.
  23. Now I know what the 422 means. Happy birthday, MrR.
