  1. All of the early Beatles albums that I have are in mono. That's how I know and love those songs. Listening to them in stereo would be interesting to me from a curiosity perspective. But it would be messing with perfection. And I was burned (badly) by the Pet sounds reissue in stereo which is atrocious. That album should be in mono. All of this is IMO of course.
  2. If they sound better, it's not a rip off to me. Yes, I am a sucker. I am ok with that.
  3. I didnt buy the Pet Sounds boxset, but the Pet Sounds disc that I bought has mono and stereo on one disc. And I listened to the stereo once and I never will again.
  4. Can we get into another argument about mono vs stereo while we wait?
  5. I didnt read the press release all that carefully but my impression was that you could buy the stereo versions individually (or in the box set) and the mono versions would only be available in the box set.
  6. Me too, but the other way around. I have no interest in hearing With the Beatles in stereo.
  7. So I tivo yesterday's 1pm Mets/Reds game and avoid the internet and all possible spoilers like the plague (including this thread). I get home, and watch the first two batters with my 7 month old son (his first opening day), and then I feed him and put him to bed, and plop myself down on the couch with two hot dogs. And then I fall asleep in the 8th inning. Didn't even see K-rod. Times have changed.
  8. I have found that there are certain articles of clothing of mine that have a certain karma. And I end up wearing them when appropriate. Always.
  9. Wonderful. News: The New York Post reports that the Mets are very close to signing OF Gary Sheffield. The veteran would provide a quality bat off the bench and some insurance for Ryan Church in right field.
  10. Gotcha. Damn. My league is a straight 5x5 rotisserie keeper league. And it's a league filled with Yankee and Red Sox fans. So lesser known players on teams like the ChiSox often fall through the cracks. No one knew who Alexei was last year. I saved him for the end of the draft when I had $2 left. I nominated him for $1 and sweated out whether someone would outbid me. Man, auction leages rule. Anyway, thanks for the tip. I will keep my eyes open for Beckham later in the season. If I can slot Getz in for cheap, a high average, high runs and decent SBs is perfectly acceptable for me.
  11. Norbs, is chris getz the guy you were talking up a few weeks ago? Can the 2009 Chris Getz be the 2008 Alexei Ramirez? ie, can I get him for $1 this weekend and ride him to the championship?
  12. Music From Big Pink is a rocking chair on the porch with a tall cold glass of lemonade in hand. Feet up on that side table with the rickety leg.
  13. Not sure what you mean then. Seems to me that he handled it like a good head coach. Always looking for ways to improve his team. He tried to meet with Cutler and smooth it over and Cutler refused. No?
  14. He's definitely an upgrade. I just think it was too much. And if he turns out to be great, I will be wrong. It's a lot to give up for a bit of a question mark, was really my point. As for McDaniels, ehhh. When players renegotiate existing contracts and/or don't report to camp, they say it's just business. Or it's about respect. Double standard?
  15. That's a bit exaggerated. There's some truth to it, sure. But GB also had Rodgers. It's not like they couldn't plan for the coming year in terms of personnel. Of course they could. What are the odds that you will be doing that as a Bears fan at some point? It's a bad precedent.
  16. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly fans can rationalize or ignore problems from a new player. Bears fans are locked and loaded with their new franchise qb and ready for the Super Bowl? And yet, the Bears just got a QB who has handled the last 2 mos like a petulent child, who has more trash talking citations than TDs, and has never led the Broncos to anything of significance. The guy's got talent. It's clear. He could be an absolute star. But let's not be handing out the Vince Lombardi trophy yet. Not to compare Cutler to T.O., but Cowboys fans were doing backflips when they got hi
  17. Cutler has the potential to be a franchise QB. I don't think he is yet. If he turns out to be one, yes this was a good deal. If not, it wasn't. Since there's a question mark, I think it was too much of a gamble and too much to give up. That leaves aside questions of attitude. It also ignores the fact that Denver was forced to trade him. GB didnt get a first round pick for Favre. They got a conditional 4th round pick. It would have been a 1st rd pick if the Jets made the super bowl. I am not trying to compare one year of Favre to (potentially) ten years of Cutler in Chicago. Just
  18. I think the Bears gave up too much.
  19. [started typing and thought better of it]
