Also, I am sure that everyone is happy to know that Jim Cramer has declared that the depression is over. http://papastraighttalk.blogspot.com/2009/...on-is-over.html

AIG was bailed out, in large part, to prevent a domino effect. It was very clear, very early on, that this was about more than AIG, and I think most people knew that we'd never see the money again. Which doesn't mean it was wasted. If it prevented a domino effect, it worked in that sense. Doesn't make me happy about it.

does Jeff use the LRBaggs on the j-45 too? I suppose with a bit of effort I could figure this out myself, but if someone knows off the top of their head. Also, i know Gibson is making new J45s with electronics in them. Anyone have any thoughts on those? I would imagine that those that prefer mic'ing would still prefer that here, too. But I am curious if they are any good in general.

This was pretty great. A breakthrough in wireless network technology. http://www.qualcomm.com/innovation/convergence_video.html

ahhh, baseball is back.

I fell for it. Good stuff. In fairness, the "it's April 1 somewhere" bit is definitely suspect.

I hope sheffield signs somewhere so that I can avoid having to hear about and read about the "is he a HOFer" arguments for a little bit longer.

Fun/catchy little song. I feel like I have preferred other stuff you've done, but I liked this too. I don't know how to rank songs on a scale so I won't. I definitely liked it, though. You are a busy guy.

I can't stop singing this song. And I think this was the first time I came to VC and I couldn't find the song I wanted to play. So I figured that I needed to learn how to play it and show my work. Anyway, please let me know where I've gone wrong. Jeff's got a great drone going on so I think it has to be in drop D. Although knowing Jeff, it's probably in open D or DADADE or some other such craziness. Anyway, it seems like he focuses on the low strings (the DADG strings). See below for what I call the "D riff" and the "Em riff" which should be rough enough to get you on your way. He han

Thanks Lammy, that was awesome. Man, sometimes videos like that really bum me out. It's one thing to get discouraged when my favorite guitar players put my guitar skills to shame. When it's someone half my age? Ugh.

Mr and Mrs MattZ made the last minute trip up to Beacon. Some thoughts: seeing Pete Seeger and Jeff onstage was a very very special moment. At one point during the show, Jeff gave the obligatory "I can't believe I am playing after Pete Seeger." But it was genuine. You could tell that it was a treat for him. And for us, too. The guy is 90 yrs old, and as was said earlier, he carries his guitar and banjo himself. He has the energy and love of a man half his age, but he couldn't really carry the vocals. His grandson came up and did the majority of the singing. Jeff was purely in the bac

I asked it before of nudie, but he didn't answer. It was a serious question. If you guys are so worried about claims of financial armageddon and/or inflation (eg, loaves of bread for $15) and/or the US turning into South America, what precautions are you taking? I dont ask it to be a wiseass. I ask it to figure out whether you are serious. There are steps you can take to protect yourself from any of these predictions. If you aren't taking those steps, then is it safe for me to think that you really aren't all that worried? Is your money where you mouth is? Are you hedging against infl

how much did your boy wieters go for. I assume he was bid on in the auction? Or is it just NL?

Me too. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Not sure about everyone else, but I am sticking to my guns. I will wait to form my opinion of the new album until after I hear the new album.

Really sorry to hear it, Joe. Try to hang in there as best as you can.

I somehow missed this. happy belated birthday!

I love(d) Lie Down in the Light so much that I ran out and bought Beware, I See a Darkness and Viva Last Blues on vinyl. I have issues (a subject for another thread). Anyway, I got home, and realized, like a dunce, that while I prefer vinyl, I don't have a record player in my office or on the train commuting to work. And I (wrongly) ass-u-me-d that these LPs would have digital download. They don't. Also, rhapsody, my preferred streaming music program at work, doesnt have BPB or WO tracks. So you see where I am going with this. I can provide photographic evidence of the LPs if you so d

I know who Matt Wieters is. I have a feeling everyone else in my (keeper) league does too. Anyone else have thoughts on resources for an auction day crash course? Up to the minute depth charts, etc.? Is the closer in Texas CJ Wilson or Frank Francisco? Also, I am going to go ahead and slap the keeper tag on Alexei Ramirez with his $1 salary (pats self on back).

My league is AL only.

I run into the same problem every year preparing for my rotisserie baseball auction. The preview magazines are woefully outdated, the free internet websites are decent, but not great, and the pay websites are pay so i dont want to waste money to find out I got ripped off. What resources do folks here use?

Nudie, what precautions are you taking? Just curious.

I'm thrilled for all you guys. Glad to hear it was such a blast.

Sir Stewart nailed this issue.
