  1. OKC 11-5-1997, Will Rogers Theater: Things I remember ... Jeff asking the audience for drugs ... Audience throwing drugs at Jeff ... Jeff looking at one in particular, laughing and giving it to Ken ... Jay was a master of many instruments and rocked the house ... Casino Queen ... small venue, lots of energy ... Also, the roadie did Immigrant Song. Wish I could find a tape of the show, but I don't think one exists.
  2. Just got my tix in the mail today ... Oh yeah, and red1996 is going with me, too! (Maybe even Mrs. CreativeType) ...
  3. Yes, red1996 and I are banding together again ... Hate to miss SV at the Cain's (I was there back in 1996 and caught them later in OKC at the Will Rogers Theater), but the chance to see The Hold Steady rock such a small venue as the Opolis in Norman was too good to pass up. Here's some concert info on the Oklahoma show: The Hold Steady - June 10 - The Opolis
  4. This short story is not BY Cormac McCarthy, but sort of ABOUT him ... Sort of. Check it out and let me know what you think. The author (Billman, not McCarthy) is a friend of mine. Inkneck by Jon Billman Those of you living in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico or El Paso might find it pretty colorful as well.
  5. Rolling Stone is printed right here in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA. I do a lot of work with those guys .... maybe I should head over there and check out the press proofs. (To read the Wilco article, I mean ... not to look at the cover or anything)
  6. It's April and it's back! (for now)
  7. Guess I got too many hits on the site for the month ... Apple locked my .Mac account until April.
  8. My 6-year-old twins got their training wheels off this week, so I thought I'd jazz up the footage with some Wilco! Bicycle Fun
  9. You can edit your PhotoBooth preferences so it's not a mirror image.
  10. That one was covered by Fericito, not Rubia. Here's my guess: Reincarnation?
  11. Whenever I think of Wilco and the UK, I can't help but picture the infamous live show where Jeff and the crowd go at it ... Froggie, you got a link to the priceless banter?
  12. I think you all are missing something ... there's clearly a tie for second place: AM BT (disc one) / BT (disc two) ST YHF AGIB SBS Personally, I'd put BT disc one ahead of BT disc two, but that's just chronologically and alphabetically.
  13. Here's the 5 versions I have: 1. 3/12/2001 2. Wiggleworm Dads Show 1 3. Wiggleworm Dads Show 2 4. IATTBYH DVD capture 5. 3/5/2001 (best quality) :monkey :monkey Sendspace link: Monkey Mess
  14. Lunch break update ... here's some more entries from the magazine: Best Concert DVD: Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest, Jeff Tweedy (with photo -- no other info). Worst Trend in Music: Seated musicians. Best Album Cover: The Eraser, Thom Yorke. Best Kids' Album: Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Nirvana. One in a series featuring songs from Led Zepplin, U2, the Cure, and others. Biggest Agitator: James McMurtry Most Prescient Visionary: Danger Mouse Best Business Card: Billy Gibbons (says "friend of Eric Clapton" on it) Best Entertainer: Beck Best Festival: AC
  15. Couldn't get into the site yesterday (down for maintenance?) and now my avatar doesn't show up at left. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
  16. I think Raconteurs got best "Group" ... There's also a several page fashion spread featuring great photos Kings of Leon (wearing black) in this issue. (Hilary Swank is on the cover.) The Esquire website is about 2 issues behind the printed publication.
  17. There's also the version of Monkey Mess from the "IATTBYH" bonus DVD, but it's a recording of Jeff listening to the song on a small boom box, so the quality is not good either.
  18. I'm torn, because I like to see photos and videos of my favorite artists as well (who can forget the Springfield Incident, immortalized on YouTube), but as a fan who also enjoys taking concert pics and is respectful of the rules, I'm afraid the people that abuse the privilege (taking flash photos, videos shot with still cameras, etc.) will ruin it for the rest of us. I can envision a policy in the future that bans all types of electronic devices in an effort to prevent unauthorized photos and videos.
  19. The new issue of Esquire is their ESKY Music Awards edition. Among the winners is a nod to Jeff's "Sunken Treasure" as the best live music DVD for the year. Other noteworthy items (from memory) ... They list the 9:30 Club in DC as the best live music venue and Liberty Hall n Marfa, Texas, as the best small venue. Best live band: My Morning Jacket Best songwriter: Craig Finn Best showman: Beck Best new band: Cold War Kids (I'll post more later ... or if someone else has the issue handy, feel free to chime in.)
  20. I've got two versions (sent to me by very accomodating VCers), but will have to get them to you tonight. One is probably the version you already have. I don't think there's a "clean one" without the banter, though. And they are not real great in terms of audio quality, but fun for the kids nonetheless.
  21. I would think since they're playing to their hometown crowd that the energy level should be sky-high ... couple that with the brand new venue and I'm hoping for some serious fireworks!
  22. If you register (for free) with the HOB site, you can get in on the presale before then. Tix are $35 for balcony and $22 for SRO, plus about 7-8 bucks service charge.
