  1. I see a box of iomega Zip disks ... Was this photo taken in 1999?
  2. Many Happy (Belated) Returns, Oceanman ...
  3. The local record store in my neck of the woods was also sold out by the time I got there on RSD, but I was able to downloaded the extras just fine ... Go here and register: Roadcase
  4. Figured this would be as good a place as any to air my "Record Store Day" DVD rant ... Okay, which of you Okie VCers bought one of the 8 -- THAT'S EIGHT, AS IN SINGLE DIGITS -- Ashes DVDs shipped to Starship Records in Tulsa for Saturday's special pre-sale? By the time I got to town for another event (2 pm or so), I called the store and they said they were sold out. I asked how many they had, and the nice lady on the phone said eight. I'm not surprised the DVD was popular (and I'm happy for the folks who got them Saturday), but to send a handful of copies to city of 400,000 people is a
  5. From the Department of Redundancy Department: Chipotle. This time it was "Passenger Side" ... What is it with burritos and AM?
  6. Doubt they'll play the Shrine Mosque in Springfield again ...
  7. I think he says "we're all fools" or something cheesy like that. Where's Froggy when you need him. Bet he's got that version somewhere handy ...
  8. Screen Door: Metaphors or Meteorology?
  9. "California Stars" on kids' nite at Mexico Joe's restaurant, Stillwater, Okla. Over the din of diners dining and chomping chips and salsa I heard those faint, familiar chords and told my young girls to listen closely, Wilco is in the air ...
  10. Did anyone else catch ABC's Nightline Wednesday (3/4/09) evening? They had a brief story on the resurgence of vinyl, and went to an indie record store (Crooked Beat Records in DC). Near the end of the clip, they showed a close-up of Sky Blue Sky, and then talked about how it also came with a CD inside the LP jacket so fans could have both. One of the guys they interviewed described listening to the sound of LPs vs. digital music like this (I'm paraphrasing): "a digital recording is like a single lightbulb in the center of a room, illuminating everything evenly; while listening to vinyl i
  11. No matter how it sounds, chronologically speaking, it's not even close to their debut album.
  12. Over-explanation is one of my strong suits. April 18th can't get here soon enough.
  13. It's definitely the Cain's show in Tulsa. I remember reading VC reviews of the Houston show (the day before) where fans said his voice was ailing and they were wondering if his voice would hold out in Tulsa. Plus, the doctor who gave him the shot was at the show. The trailer editing makes it look like it's at the Ryman since the full stage shot comes right after the closeup of the steroid comment (assuming that's the venue with the balcony -- sadly I've never been there). In Tulsa, he also gave a funny flex to show off his chemically-enhanced physique ...
  14. That's what I thought. Part of me hopes I'm in it, but the other part of me is afraid I'll look like the backstage guy in IATTBYH: "Is your new album more like A.M. or more like Summer TEETH?" I'd settle for a glimpse of me in the Cain's crowd that doesn't make me look like a dork.
  15. I would think that many of the people in line 2 hours before doors open do.
  16. Would think so. They asked those of us who were interviewed (in line outside before the show) to spell out our e-mail address on camera so they could presumably contact us later to do a release. I figured good number of the people interviewed would be VCers and would mention if they were contacted at all. Maybe there's an implied "consent" by the mere fact that we agreed to be on camera verbally and they didn't need it. Once inside the venue, I believe the concert ticket (that features all the small legal type disclaimers on the back) would be your agreement to be filmed, etc. ... Guess
  17. I asked this in the "other" thread, but it got buried in Blu-Rays ... so I'll throw it out once again. Was anyone who was interviewed outside the Cain's (or other venue) before the show contacted by the producers about a release/permission to use the clip? I was interviewed but not contacted. Cutting room floor I suppose.
  18. That was the Tulsa show. Apparently his voice was suffering pretty bad at the Houston show. The next day in Tulsa, Jeff visited a local doc who gave him a steroid shot. Jeff invited the doc to the show, where he sat in front of the rail. Funny banter ensued. Glad it's captured here. April 18 can't get here quick enough.
  19. Okay, was anyone who was interviewed outside the Cain's (or other venue) before the show contacted by the producers? I was interviewed but not contacted. Cutting room floor I suppose. In any event, can't wait for this to come out. It will be awesome to re-live the Cain's Show.
  20. As Jeff said, they'll have to put an asterisk beside that show, since he was on steroids that night. I like the shows that are not perfect. That's what makes them seem more, I dunno, rock 'n roll!
  21. The original e-mail said "look for clips and other information at Wilcoworld.net beginning in January" ... With January almost gone, has anyone heard when and where the clips may appear? (I was at the Cain's show, so am looking forward to this DVD with anticipation.)
  22. Once again at Chipotle here in Stillwater ... "Pick Up the Change."
  23. I coerced the folks at Okla. State to do that at baseball games this past spring. It was great!
  24. "Pick Up the Change" ... Yesterday. Chipotle. Stillwater. Oklahoma. (followed by some Frank Sinatra)
