uh....no. I'm floored and I think my exuberance to possibly help him may have an adverse affect on my interview request with Wilco. That may be paranoid thinking on my part, but this news is fucked up and I feel like someone just smashed me over the head with a baseball bat.

when I interviewed Brendan Canty there was a point where we were discussing that ill-fated concert film of Jones' and he was about to say what he thought was the reason for them shelving it, but then caught himself and backed off of saying it. I wouldn't have printed it or stated it here had he said what it was, but my guess is there's some other reason for it not being released than the one stated publicly.

I like so much of Ryan's post Whiskeytown output, but "Stranger's Almanac" is never going to NOT be my favorite work of his. I would love to put together a crack band and front it just to sing Whiskeytown covers.

1. Being There - it may not always be this high, but it's the album that still means the most to me 2. Summerteeth - means almost as much as BT 3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - some of the songs here are going to sound timeless 4. A Ghost Is Born - a real strong mover - I've been listening to this one lately more than any other 5. Sky Blue Sky - a little light for my tastes, but some great stuff nonetheless 6. AM - love a lot of the songs on it, but the mix/production/whatever is really abysmal - it sounds so flat comparatively I think I did this before ranking the Minus 5 album and Mermaid Avenue

It's a little odd that Wilco (the website) doesn't have the album title up yet.

that's a nicer way to say... getting some of the Wilco or ex-Wilco guys involved might not be as hard as Jeff.

The idea of some sort of "Being There" or "Summerteeth" era Wilco reunion for this is probably a dream. A beautfiul one, but still, a dream. Getting Jeff to do it may be one, too. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, I suppose. As a fan of the band's I know how amazing this idea would be to the fans. I just don't want to dream too big and get myself (or others) disappointed.

Sweet Relief may be an option on top of the possible show(s). I may end up having to do two shows at two great venues ... but two because their capacity is pretty small.

"Cajun Angel" off of that album is probably my favorite solo song of his.

There's still some aspects of it that could use some smoothing out, but I like that he didn't over think the process.

Halloween shows would be great. God damn I love this band. I know I only tend to show up when they have projects going on, so I apologize to you hard core posters, but this band has me 100%. Has been that way for what? 14 - 15 years now? Jesus. My wife is not much of a fan, so she's a little worn out with the watching and re-watching of DVDs and the re-reading of Greg Kot's book. I can't get enough.
