  1. I got into Wilco because I was a fan of Uncle Tupelo at the end (discovered them too late to matter). I still love Wilco's output post Jay leaving. But I will say that the time he was in the band will most likely always be closest to my heart. I don't mean anything against Jeff or the other guys in the band since Jay left, it's just my opinion. It doesn't really matter - they've been my favorite band for pretty much the past 13 years regardless. But those 7 years that Jay was a member of Wilco will always mean an extraordinary amount to me. I don't want to see this turn into a bickering
  2. I have not listened to some of these tapes in a long while - the quality is not all that great unfortunately.
  3. Chicago - yeah, don't want to say anything more than that without something in place. Look - I'll be coming here to see if people can help. My goal would be to raise money for Sweet Relief or some sort of musician's fund or something. My hopes are big.
  4. A venue is interested in doing something - I'm just not sure how to go about this right now. Seems to early to be pestering friends and fellow musicians into coming together for a show.
  5. I'm probably just going to post full transcriptions, but quite honestly, figuring out how to upload the audio might take less work.
  6. just listening to Wilco and Jay's music today - will probably listen to my taped interviews with Jay as well. I don't know when, but I suspect I'll make re-posting those interviews in full my next priority.
  7. probably has something to do with having to burn flags after they've touched the ground. or the ridiculousness of prosecuting people for flag burning (when they haven't hit the ground - which begs the question, couldn't people burning the flag just say they dropped them on the ground? LoL)
  8. Listening to Bigger Than Blue now. "Cajun Angel" is a song I re-discovered earlier this year on a trip to the south. It's a beautiful tune. But then, Jay knew how to make any tune beautiful. if anything, Jay lightened up Summerteeth's darkness, so NYTimes' bit there isn't quite accurate. But hey - at least he's being discussed.
  9. http://rockandrollghost.blogspot.com/2009/...09-may-you.html I think if I wrote anymore right now I'd probably break down. My wife is worried that I'm taking this hard, so I've been trying to put on a good face for her so she won't worry. But I'm sad - I'm terribly sad and really don't even know what to do with myself today besides constantly look here and other places for comfort.
  10. succinct - but nice to see he said something. Jay made the headlines on Entertainment Weekly's site : http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/05/former-wilco-me.html
  11. Well this was not the sort of news I was expecting to read first thing this morning. To say I'm shocked, stunned, saddened and upset are words too mild for what I'm going through right now. Jay was a musical hero of mine. At the time I met him he lived a very short distance from me and welcome me into his home after spending hours on the phone together for what was only supposed to be a 30 minute interview. He was an incredibly generous, positive and friendly person, one of the few I've had the pleasure encountering in my time writing about music. I wish I had been able to reach him j
  12. Oh boy am I not participating in this one. LoL. Suffice it to say I'm obsessed with all things circling the Wilco sun.
  13. There's two sides to every square - but you have no testicles, Charlie.
  14. There's no T-Pain??? I ain't buying this shit.
  15. I appreciate not being able to tie Jeff down to one thing musically. Though, no matter what direction he/the band goes in, it's still Wilco somehow.
  16. just close to not having enough, imo. I could have heard Jeff screaming for a few more bars at the end.
  17. are people having a problem with how clean it sounds? it's a damn wrinkle free sounding album, that's for sure. very well mixed and mastered. It's so weird because it sounds exactly like the album I was expecting them to make and unlike everything they've done before.
  18. fuck 'em if they can't take a joke, I say. It's all been good. even their least album is great to me.
  19. I thought Olestra made you fart out an oily discharge?
  20. how was the last album smooth jazz? it was a folk-rock album
  21. Isn't there some sort of medicine Wilco could take to prevent leaking? I hear it happens to lots of guys over 40 years old.
