  1. Bought mine on Amazon last week - got here about five or so days earlier than I had anticipated. Just imported all four discs, read the liner notes and am listening now.
  2. Thank you to those that participated.
  3. Right on #1 I remember seeing Nels & Pat in the band in Dekalb some time in May of 2004. Never heard that 3rd one before - haha... Keep 'em coming!
  4. Man it has been forever since I've been on here. Hello to everyone I used to know if you're still here. I'm working on a project about the band and, while I know the main details I wanted to reach out to other fans to see what moments in time resonate the most with them. So basically I'm chronicling their entire 20 year history in bullet points. Like the date that Uncle Tupelo ended and then the date that Wilco began. When albums began recording and when they ended (if anyone has specific dates or even months/years feel free to add them). I'm pretty sure I could eventually just give this l
  5. Hey there everybody. I wanted to submit a link to my review of the recent show at Lincoln Hall by the Autumn Defense. Below the link will be the full setlist from the show. Thanks for checking it out! http://rocknrollghost.com/2010/06/18/live-review-the-autumn-defense-lincoln-hall-chicago 01. The Sun In California (John Stirratt) 02. Bluebirds Fall (Pat Sansone) 03. Written In the Snow (JS) 04. Back of My Mind (PS) - New Song 05. Step Easy (JS) - New Song 06. Every Days Is a Brand New Day (PS) (I think I have the wrong title here, actually - my memory's hazy and my notes are unreadab
  6. whoa! the same weekend my son's back from college for Spring Break - I think my wife sanctioned me spending the money to go with him.
  7. On a related note - Chef Paul Kahan, an avid music fan, talks to Rock 'n Roll Ghost about a great Uncle Tupelo experience he had in Milwaukee: Paul Kahan talks Uncle Tupelo
  8. If you're looking to book them, then their booking agent is the way to go. If they won't get back to you it most likely means that they don't want to do the gig.
  9. Guitar legend Smokey Hormel discusses why he loves Nels Cline (unprovoked by me) in Rock 'n Roll Ghost's interview with him - quote appears at end of article Thanks for checking it out!
  10. dude's pretty funny, to me. as I write in the list, his Twitter account is great fun.
  11. http://rocknrollghost.com/2010/01/20/rock-n-roll-ghost-picks-the-best-albums-of-2009
  12. John for sure wanted to be there, but these shows are booked way in advance and the tribute was put together after Labor Day. It would have been impossible for any of them to come.
  13. alright everyone, be there or be square - come on out and help some musicians. it's only $8. Here's my interview feature with Edward Burch about the event: http://rocknrollghost.com/2009/11/15/edward-burch-talks-about-the-jay-bennett-birthday-celebration-tonight-in-chicago
  14. F'ing Sufjan Stevens at #1??? Insufferable. I'd have an easier time accepting Arcade Fire at the top. I think, culturally and considering Paste's readership it would have made the most sense. That album, love it or not, defines the new decade musically. That said, it wouldn't make my Top 10 of the decade. I'm putting a list together on the new site (signature).
  15. The true story is that the band were told that, if you played the song backwards, it promoted the Republican Party.
  16. I'm with you on that. A combination of real blistering, dark night of the soul songs akin to At Least That's What You Said, mixed with stuff like Hell is Chrome and Spiders (Kidsmoke) would be alright to me. I'd like a real dark, jarring album ala A Ghost Is Born right about now. Call it a palette cleanser. But I still like the last 2 albums...for me, they're the only 2 in their catalog I'm not synced up to yet. I'm fine with that. I figure down the line they'll probably fit in perfectly with me at that time. I was just so used to every album mirroring my emotional state that it's thro
  17. I'll definitely post once I know - bummed that the guys from Wilco won't be able to be there - still on tour at that time.
  18. Moderators - if this is in the wrong thread I apologize and please move it to the appropriate one. November 15, 2009 would have been Jay Bennett's 46th birthday. On that evening, friends and comrades will gather at The Hideout in Chicago to celebrate the life and music of their extraordinarily talented friend. Scheduled to appear: Edward Burch The Viper & His Famous Orchestra Brad Elvis & Chloe Orwell (of The Handcuffs) members of Dolly Varden Quartet Parapluie Steve Frisbie Dorian Taj John Peacock Kenneth Rainey (of Tangleweed) Brian Krumm & Brian Leach (of The Great Crusades)
  19. Was I the one that bumped this thread? I'm a troublemaker wherever I go if so...
  20. Yeah, I'd like to see them do a couple each show, in all honesty. But no biggie if not - it's their set list.
  21. I'm happy that someone recorded the one I found out there...it gave me a great version of "Who Were You Thinking Of?" (not sure if that title's right or not). I made a mix disc for Eddie Argos of Art Brut and included that song (and some other assorted Wilco or Wilco related material on it) and he loves the disc. That version of that song always brings a smile to my face and I am very thankful it got out.
  22. This sort of thread on a fan page is probably what scares the admired more than anything. But yeah, they make their money on the road. Jeff ain't gonna shut it down anytime soon, I'm sure. And it certainly doesn't seem like any break is in the cards soon...what with the tour schedule going into next year and Savannah starting off a 2nd quarter of touring. Wilco's touring seems ideal, actually. They go out for 2 - 4 weeks at a time, take 2 or more weeks off and then do it again. Oh - btw - Not sure what the story is with Gretchen Wilson - will have to look that up.
  23. I'm not sure what will ultimately be #1 for this year. I know that Art Brut, Wilco, Flaming Lips, On Fillmore, Califone, Smokey Hormel, Mew, Pronto, Dead Weather, St. Vincent, Moby all will be in my top 25.
