The woman who said Sarah Palin made her proud to be a woman made me cringe. Also, I'm confused about what freedoms these people have lost since Obama became president. We still have freedom of religion as far as I know (which is something that was mentioned).

That's awesome you got to meet him, Sarah! I think maybe he's getting a little more personable in his old age? During the show, he smiled once and my brother and I turned to each other at the same time and said "He smiled!".

We had a great time, too. Seems like they didn't play as many mellow tunes as they did in Charlotte. They didn't play Damn Shame, though, and that's one of my faves live. I didn't think they were going to come back out that 3rd time, and we had headed for the exit until we heard people yelling. My only complaint about the show was that I always, always seem to get stuck behind the weirdos. The couple in front of me must've thought they were at the prom because all they did was slow dance and make out the entire time. I don't think the woman even looked at the stage once. At least it wasn't too

Couldn't sleep last night so found myself channel surfing at 2 am and came across an episode of Remote Control. Thought I'd been suddenly transported back to my teen years. Funny thing, I fell asleep and woke up to Madonna's Material Girl video. Weird.

I saw them in September, too (Charlotte) and also in February. This will be the first year I've seen Son Volt more than I've seen Wilco.

I've always seen them in bars/smaller venues, but I've only started seeing them live the past few years. I'll be at the Greenville, SC show on Friday.

I bet those line numbers will be sold out in 5 minutes. Too bad I have to work til 6 pm.

Actually Darius/Hootie has been a country fan for a long time. He used to play covers of Nanci Griffith songs back in the day and has even recorded with her. Don't think it has anything to do with the hat.

Nice review! I saw Neko many months ago in Atlanta and have been dying to see her again. She's playing tonight in Charlotte, but I just couldn't make it work (in the immortal words of Tim Gunn). Maybe next time.

That was truly ridiculous. I was pretty proud of my Gamecocks' effort against the mighty Tim Tebow and the Gators last Saturday. If we could get an offensive line, we might go over .500 in the SEC one year. Also, we have some of the biggest redneck fans on the planet. When a bunch of Gators sat around us at the game, I thought we were in trouble but they were all pretty classy. Our fans were disgusting.

My 40th is May 9. Let's both keep our fingers crossed!

I've had discussions about gay marriage with conservatives in the past and got the whole 'if we let gay people get married, what's next? Humans and their pets?' theory. I always found that line of thinking completely insane and then yesterday read about the guy from Myrtle Beach who was just sentenced to three years in prison for having sex with some lady's horse. Apparently she caught it on video. This article slayed me. My favorite quote: "I didn't mean to do it".

I wish he could've been suspended for our game next Saturday. We need all the help we can get.

I probably could, but honestly it would be difficult, especially in my line of work (state government and a very conservative one at that). I mean, we do have a Senator who actually said that single mothers and gay people should not be allowed to teach. And let's not forget "you lie!". I can hardly post anything political to my facebook profile these days because of the rude comments I get.

Same here. I tried so hard but I only made it through maybe half the book. I haven't picked up any other Eggers book since. I also cannot get through Atlas Shrugged.
