Finally found time to do this. 1. The National - Boxer (When I heard this album, I bought the entire back catalog.) 2. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (My love for this band has grown exponentially this year.) 3. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky (You Are My Face, Impossible Germany and Hate It Here are absolutely perfect.) 4. Radiohead - In Rainbows (Like a lot of you, I listened to it non-stop that first week.) 5. Dr. Dog - We All Belong (I bought this album because of good reviews on VC. I didn't like it at first. That opinion has changed considerably.) A few others I think will stay with me well beyond 2007

I've been to concerts by myself, both for Wilco and other bands. The Wilco shows have been much better experiences, simply because the band has the nicest and best fans on earth. I've made some quick friends while waiting near the stage.

What are you GIVING for Christmas?
CommerceComet replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
My dad's in the car business so he doesn't need a new car. But he does a lot of work on them so I'm getting him this: Mom's getting an iPod nano, and I'll load it with some Wilco and other great artists that I think she'll like. The biggest challenge I have is the girl I'm dating. How big of a gift do you get someone you've been dating for a month? Awkward. EDIT: I hope they don't read this before Christmas. -
I haven't asked for an autograph since I saw Joe DiMaggio in the Tampa airport in 1996. I figure I can't top that one.

Time for someone different to post on this thread ... I am not a huge basketball fan (I will fight to keep OU a football school) but I can't believe we lost to Stephen F. Austin yesterday. How pathetic is that? Pig Sooie, I have tickets to see your Razorbacks in Norman next Saturday, and I have zero confidence OU will win.

I forgot. You don't become an artist until you're on SNL.
-
Or maybe you don't get honored when you give the industry the finger and release an album on the Internet.

How is Feist a new artist?

OK I'm a little late to the party here but this absolutely made my day. The last show at Cain's was so much fun.

Who won?

I was rooting for Kansas. I'm having a hard time getting excited about playing Mizzou again. I'm also not happy that an OU win would put Ohio State in the title game.

I remember the first OU game I went to after Stoops was hired and Mangino joined the staff. I took a look at the big guy in pre-game warmups and thought, "what the hell is that?" And he's gotten even bigger since then.

#12, but we've slipped one spot edit: I'm a victim of the Hispanic surge because Martinez passed me.

Season 2 is the best. I wondered how the Pam-Jim tension would hold up now that I know more information, but I rewatched a few episodes the other day and it's still good as gold. "The Dundies" is my favorite episode of the series.

Doh! The league will be screwed if we still win the Big 12 Championship game.

This is correct. I thought the deposition scene was perfect, but I thought it might just be because I went to law school.

Damn I hope not. Maybe that's my problem in bars. We can't get Old Style in Oklahoma and it makes me sad. First time I had it was in a bar in Wrigleyville. I then drank about 17 of them during a doubleheader.

Yeah most of this season has just been ridiculous. Driving into the lake. Survivor Man. Ugh. I don't think it will ever return to Season 2 form. Karen saved Season 3, but now? I guess we'll see if the strike ever ends.

Best episode of the season, hands down. Although I could see Jan's lawsuit coming from a mile away, the writing made it work so well. The show is at its best when Michael's character is more real. When he's aiming to help but messing it up thoroughly. Reading back through the deposition transcript ("Can I go to the bathroom") got the biggest laugh of the season from me.

Cut off your Nutt to spite your face.

I love that the Big 12 Championship game could possibly be a national semifinal. We haven't seen that in years past. At most it's usually one team that has a chance at the BCS title and another playing the spoiler role. If Kansas and OU keep rolling, this could be the closest thing to a playoff there can be.

One of my best friends from law school played at OU for John Blake and Bob Stoops. He said Blake was a nice guy, but he'd rather play for Stoops anytime because the discipline translates to winning. Of course, it's probably easy to say that when you have a National Championship ring on your finger. edit: Of course, I'm not saying B. Stoops isn't a royal a-hole. Another good friend of mine is a sportswriter and he tries to stay invisible in press conference simply because Stoops is such a jerk to the media. He doesn't recognize the media for what it is: The face of the fans, which pay his sal

Of course I'm only marginally confident that OU will take care of business. ESPN radio was talking about the possibility of Mizzou vs. West Virginia in the title game, and the way this year is going, I wouldn't be shocked.

Stoops Magic. Awww yeah!
