  1. There will be a Califone store on pastrysharp.com in a few weeks, and it will have lots of new stuff! LPs too (hopefully)!
  2. Thanks for the review, Louie! I'll be seeing Califone twice in November (once in Philly, the other at the Aud with Wilco!). I'll be seeing Dylan in November as well (at Philly's Spectrum ), and I hope it's good! After an awesome show a few years ago, I swore I'd never see Dylan again to avoid tarnishing my positive memory. But by the time I see him at the Wachovia Spectrum, I'll have been the second show since the time I swore him off. Oh well.
  3. It's plans for a homemade nuquelar device, I think.
  4. "Neil" doesn't seem that too tough to pronounce. Is your last name Kozlzczykski? And that's a good point about "effulgent." I just clicked "no," so I didn't worry about it.
  5. It means look out, is all. My guess is for falling objects, like anvils or pianos.
  6. http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=56755 I found this in one of my usual RSS feed readings. It doesn't take long and was fairly interesting. I was a tie between "A Classic Novel" and a goddam "Coloring Book," but I found the results to actually be pretty accurate. Here's what mine said: What do YOU think?
  7. jkjk But here's some more fun for your evening: RE: Article My response:
  8. I think that a lot of hippies ended up being libertarian/Republicans, due to their inherent selfishness and hedonism.
  9. I'm pretty sure that would cause a rift in the space-time continuum (see Michael J. Fox thread for further discussion).
  10. From the article (unnecessary emphasis mine):
  11. Michael J. Fox is basically untouchable. To fuck with him is a bad idea, whether he's sick or not. Fox will always be the lovable scamp from Back to the Future, a perpetual kid, and to accuse him of faking a terminal disease is akin to berating a kid for using his imagination.
  12. Brilliant. The other thing that bugs me (and I wanted to try to keep my personal grudge out of it) is that Califone are friendly, modest, unwealthy guys without trust funds who just want to play together and do interesting things and genuinely want to make good music and be as friendly as possible to their fans. They're in there with the last people who deserve a heckle just because a listener is bored.
  13. To each his own. Nobody can prevent themselves from feeling bored when it happens. But, like you're saying, that's no excuse to infringe upon others' enjoyment. My guess is that 400 people x $25 is more valuable than my measly $25. Ahhhhh, it all makes sense now.
  14. Maybe an e-brick (email at the top).
  15. I found this article recently, in a search for Califone press. Call me crazy, but in the spirit of Edward Abbey, I decided to give this guy a piece of my mind. Article link My response: What do YOU think?
  16. SWEET! Thanks for the info, Wendy. I was just on that site the other day and it seemed horribly out of date. I just saw them in NYC w/ Amandin in April. Excellent show. I wish there were more bootlegs, like KCRW or whatnot.
  17. Ahahahaha, wasn't that just on ask.metafilter?
  18. We get a lot of Business Reply Mail here where I work. And due to one particular client's aggressive advertising, we get a lot of postage-paid envelopes full of all kinds of garbage. Some, in the past, have actually leaked...
  19. I have identity issues, what can I say? sumpin > merv > loper > owl
  20. Yeah, you're right. And I'm not going to go after your average run-of-the mill people. But Pitchfork used a big image that I think is only available on wikipedia- where the license is listed. I'm glad they were nice about it, though.
