I can't imagine that names make that much of a difference. Our president's name is Bush, for Chrissake, and another guy named Gore almost beat the guy named Bush.

I'm not sure that voting against the war is as much of an issue anymore, to be honest. I think that the American people probably now wish that more congressmen and women had voted against Iraq. My opinion about the issue as a Presidential platform is that it applied mostly to the 2004 election, but only in the "don't change horses mid-stream" sense. Nowhere else, really. I think that most people here, even military folks, would be happy to be out of Iraq. The only chance for it to be much of an issue is if someone in Bush's admin runs in 2008. Otherwise, I think it'll be more of a "How do w

Hmmmmmm. That makes me think. If the Dems were to put forth Hillary, why shouldn't the Reps put forth Condi- and make a race for which party gets the FIRST female President? As for Condi, can't stand her. So annoying!

Those are good points too. I wonder how many racists there actually are in the U.S? There oughta be some kind of test that proves it once and for all. If you mean a Condi/Obama ticket, I can only say Ewww. If you mean an actual fight between Condi/Obama, I might be able to support that.

Now that I think about it, though, a lot of normally non-voting racists would probably come out of the woodwork just to vote against Obama.
  6. Well that actually makes me feel pretty good. I can see the DD6 working more as a short loop pedal in that regard. That said, again, I really like my DD3.
  7. Definitely more interesting. Seems like on AGIB it's one giant O'Rourke fingerprint, though, is all I'm sayin'.

I'd venture to say that my half of the voting populace isn't that shallow. Old school Republicans will find a tougher time coping. Fortunately, the Dem./Rep. split in the U.S. is 50/50, so Obama stands to gain more than he stands to lose. I don't think 2008 will be easy for any candidate- Rep. or Dem.- but the name "Hussein" makes no real difference. If you can accept "Barack" or even "Obama," you can accept "Hussein." It's not like the late Mr. Hussein posed a threat to us anyway. IF it were Barack Osama Obama, that'd be a different story. Otherwise, his loss-due-to-middle-name is no less

  10. I have a DD3, and really like it. Sometimes still curious about the DD6, though.
  11. About one of the only positive side effects of Castro's reign: His efforts to keep Cuba in the 1950s have left many natural parts of the country virtually pristine.

Not me! Too bad we can't elect the Beckhams. All good points.

Are you more of an Alan Keyes kind of guy? For Clinton, there is a fine line between personality and sliminess. (Don't get me wrong, I like Clinton, but it's true.)

He should probably quit smoking, though. Hey, it'd be one more thing he could do to enhance his air of accomplishment. (Also, it will undoubtedly be a bad message to send to the childrens of the United States.)

I don't remember saying that this thread must stick to Obama. But I also don't remember saying "no whining," so I guess you've made a fair play. On a side note, I'm still surprised when people admit to voting for Bush twice. I'm not sure which is worse 1) Party loyalists who will predictably willingly, unnecessarily go down with the ship, or 2) Obama fans who are also predictably anti-Republican.

Is it too late to tell them "I told you so"?

I'm not surprised that Ted Kennedy is making sense. He may be widely hated by the right, and he may have that unfortunate blemish on his past, but I still think he's a good Democrat.

I once heard that he attributed it to chewing a lot of bubble gum. I didn't know about the attempt to quit smoking. Who's to say the two are mutually exclusive, though? Maybe he chewed a lot of bubble gum to kick his cigarette habit and ended up exacerbating the bad vocals.

No no no, it's about quitting cigarettes, not a 5-pack-a-day Bubble-Yum habit!!! (I hope that Bob Dylan doesn't see this and sue me for giving away his secret.)
