SHNTool is freeware; you can convert them that way, and then convert them to whatever you want from there using EAC, I s'pose. Maybe that's what you're looking for: http://www.etree.org/shnutils/shntool/

I don't. I usually put 'em up on the site exactly how I get them. Those 2003 shows were on CDs as SHNs, straight from Mr. Tom Wilder. Hard to believe that was 4 years ago. Back then, SHN was the compression of choice. You could, in theory, download the SHNs and then convert them to whatever you want, though. If you're on a Mac, xACT is a beautiful app. Do they have a jack of all trades audio converter for PC?

The O.C. is bad. Panthers is awesome. I hope the new album sounds just like Panthers and Hummingbird (Soma). No kidding.

And then you have this: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/4502189.html 2 get 5 years for fatal Seton Hall fire By JEFFREY GOLD AP Writer NEWARK, NJ - Two former roommates who admitted setting a dormitory fire that killed three students at Seton Hall University were sentenced Friday to five years in prison.

Amen to that. Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and vibes.

The interesting thing is that Stewart gives his guests a chance to speak- he doesn't yell at them. Colbert yells at his guests tongue-in-cheek, and everyone seems to have a good time. But it's no surprise to me that prominent members of both parties wind up on these shows (especially TDS). In many ways, despite being comedy, they not only expose the daily contradictions of politicians and public figures of all colors, but they also show respect to the guests who appear on their show. I don't think that you have to be serious, abrasive, or un-entertaining to do a show that a variety of peo

My brother called me at work this morning to tell me that our decrepit 17-year-old dog had a seizure that left her completely blind. I decided to take a few hours off from work to have some time with the living (although blind) dog before they took her to the vet. I wanted to have a chance to touch her one last time, to feel her fur attached to a living, warm body, to give her some comfort in one of her last hours. When I got home, my mom was upstairs drying her hair, and I waited at the bottom of the steps until she saw me. I hadn't told anyone that I was coming home. When my mom saw me,

And now that they're protecting interns, congressmen like Mark Foley won't have easy access to young men to rally their bases, either.

That's been pretty much ignored outright, maybe because most people think it's ridiculous.

The show you're thinking of is this one. The last Lounge Ax show. It's by far my favorite of his solo shows from before Wilco really hit it big. It sets the precedent for all of his later ones. Check it oot.

You obviously don't have the assortment of bone saws that I have.

Pfff, you wouldn't think it, but brainectomies are way harder.

I can think of a lot of situations where peoples' rights were protected by the government when oversight was increased. Think about Love Canal/Superfund Act. You should know about that. (Unless, of course, you're like a Chinese environmental official that I saw on the News Hour last night. He claimed that there is no link between pollution and cancer, that the pollution and 30x normal cancer rate in his village are unrelated: "After all, people get cancer in other places, too. How do you explain that?") Nah, gov't spending always takes away your rights. Can't people learn that shit on t

Now, now. I don't remember self-sufficiency being a huge success, either. The point is that there needs to be a balance; it's not b&w. Reducing glut and gov't spending is fine, but not at the expense of inalienable rights. What do you do when self-sufficiency fails? Let those people die a la social Darwinism? If you don't help them along the way, you have to bail them out in the end, anyway. Someone has to pay. What we really should do is make it so that nobody needs a medical license to perform surgery. Actually, if the medical profession just abided by the Hipocratic Oath, doctors wo

I'm cool with that.

I totally agree. I feel no moral obligation to preserving the human rights of the ignorant or the poor.

I forgot to mention that Nancy Pelosi blinks 60 times/minute, whereas Dick Cheney never blinks his eyes at all.

Ah yeah, that's me... And yeah, it was the LP.

Definitely one of his better songs.
