  1. that's awfully nice! i can't believe i never listened to him before. that song 'it's a shame' is one of the better country songs i've heard in years.
  2. haha. so you don't want him to make more money?
  3. hayes carll - flowers and liquor how is this dude not bigger? damn.
  4. hayes carll - trouble in mind finally listening to this too! holy fuck is this good. wow.
  5. i'm guessing so. i was 6 in 1983. that would've probably scared the shit out of me back then!
  6. maybe that's why i like it? i'm a sucker for some 80's riffs/songs once in a while
  7. the shins? i'll probably shy away from it then. i can't stand them np: ben nichols - last pale light in the west.
  8. yeah, i agree it does but mainly the song structure. i meant the springsteen reference more towards reviewers.
  9. i can see that i just don't get 'the springsteen sound' thing. just because there is keys or horns in an album it's springsteen-esque?
  10. seriously? i love that album. not my fave lucero album but 'can get us out of here tonight', 'i don't wanna be the one', 'sing me no hymns' are all great. the rest i dig. i need to listen to LPLW a lot more than i do.
  11. los lobos - kiko finally loaded some los lobos on to my iPod.
  12. although he's not country any more, joe henry - short man's room is a great country album.
  13. what gary allan album? his last three are pretty good (his latest one is probably my favorite). always a few stinkers on his ablums though.
  14. i actually dig a few brad paisley songs. i'm a really big fan of gary allan too.
  15. i caught one of those shows (the friday one maybe?). it wasn't the main smog show but i saw tweedy do a 5 or 6 solo acoustic set. amazing show!
  16. Baez probably knows that more than anyone! It was also probably tongue in cheek
  17. i own a bruce willis record, on vinyl. i bought it for $.50.
  18. wow, the allman's are big sheryl crow fans? that's disheartening.
  19. i actually don't mind him & his show wasn't bad but the crowd was f'in horrible. it doesn't help when it's free & there's beer. brings out all the rubes.
  20. i'd have to agree on the colin hay. saw him about 4 or 5 years ago and the taste of minnesota. he played before rick springfield. so 99% of the people in the audience were there to see rick (complete with 'jesse's girl' t-shirts.). besides colin's great music, he ripped on these people quite a bit. i could've done without colin's wife spinning around like a hippy at a phish show.
  21. same here. i love los lobos. saw them open for DMB years ago & just loved it but for some reason never, ever listen to them. i'm correcting that tonight when i get home.
  22. wow, can't believe he hasn't been mentioned yet: robert johnson.
  23. woodpigeon - treasury library canada / houndstooth europa so good.
